By Ward type fight I presume you mean more of a Greco Roman wrestling match as opposed to an actual boxing match?

 

Ward is doing what he can get away with. It's the pros, the pros is quite a crook sport. Historically, wrestling has always been a part of the fight game, and to a much more specialised degree. At the start of the fight, the referee wasn't having any part of it but as the fight went on he did nothing to stop it.

 

True the ref let him get away with a lot, thought it was a very ugly fight to watch.

 

I actually think that if you think this fight was a robbery, YDKSAB, tbh.
I recognise with this forum that a sizeable portion of people are very emotion-led and don't study boxing much, and they took that with them into this fight.

 

Probably when it favored Ward though. At the beginning Sergy was cranking Wards neck and putting his weight on him, a perfectly smart move...but the bitchass ref told him to stop it immediately. Yet that is EXACT same tactic Klitschko used against Povetkin in he was allowed to do it all night long. Funny how the "star" fighters seem to get away with it but not the opponents.

 

No, Ward should not even be in boxing. If he wants to wrestle, he needs to join the WWE. The best you could have had it is 114 to 113 Ward and he should have had points deducted for his constant dirty fighting.

 

All the chit pre-fight about Ward holding on and it ended up being Krusher initiating most the holding.

Thats a big reason why he lost. He's useless on the inside . Ward was working with body shots all the time. Kovalev was doing nothing. The judges take notice of these things.
This is why i picked Ward to win. Kovalev can only operate from far out. Ward is great in every area.

Don't forget about that low blow in the 12th ! That low blow and the stern warning from Byrd really could have swung the 12th round and the fight. Kind of ironic that for all Kovalev's worries pre-fight expecting Ward to foul, that it was his foul that may have been the difference between a W and an L.

 

Another typical american biased BS. If you don´t agree with the american decision, then you dont know **** about boxing. If you make the case that the sorely determiner of the fight was the KD, then so be it. But Kovalev should´ve still won the fight, even the pro-ward crowd booed the decision.

 

I can understand thinking Kovalev won, rooting for Kovalev, being upset that Ward got the decision, etc. (Admittedly I was pulling for Ward) But had Kovalev gotten the decision, I wouldn't have screamed robbery. I, like Roy Jones, sort of was a bit surprised Ward won but not completely shocked. I knew it was a close fight and could go either way. To quote the great Jean Pascal, as he said after his draw with Bernard Hopkins, you can't call a close fight a robbery.

Calling this fight a robbery gets it to a point to where like every single decision in a big fight turns into a robbery. In reality, a boxing robbery is like really a rare event, but yet it seems like every single big fight you always get some one screaming robbery, it's beyond comical to see this happen like clockwork over and over again.
