Ebo Elder vs. Courtney Burton: GOT VIDEO??

Discussion in 'World Boxing Forum' started by Juiceboxbiotch, Mar 2, 2010.

  1. That was an awesome fight and it seems to me like its so unappreciated. This to me was the fight that rendered them both completely shot and its because they both comepletely left it all in the ring that night. It had a Chavez vs. Taylor-esque ending with like 10 seconds left in the fight... I wanna see it again but the video is no where to be found on youtube or the rest of the interwebz that I can find.

Any of you real hardcore guys own video of this fiight? :huh

I have an old VHS recording of it. It was an amazing fight. I'd be surprised if it wasn't on Youtube somewhere.

    He was never really "good"

At the time Elder and Burton was fighting for a top 10 spot and they just went toe to toe in an all out brutal war. The way it ended was just. . i dunno. . you just have to watch it to understand.

They are a perfect example of what the epitome of two warriors stepping in the ring is like.

  8. He was a decent contender at lightweight when he was at his best. Burton made his face look like stuffed porkchops (italian style) but I think Ebo literally had Jesus Christ in his corner that night.

If I pay shipping will someone send me a VHS of this fight?

He had a decent hype train early in his career and I caught a couple fights of his on ESPN back in the day. He was one of the many fighters that Max Kellerman installed in my head as a top fighter to watch. Musta put me under his bug eyed spell because I thought Elder was going to run away with the Contender belt. I used to believe you Max....:patsch

Yeah, this was an amazing fight. I remember putting a few casual fans on to it way back when Showtime used to have fights on their website.

I also have a copy of this fight. It was one of the great forgotten fights of recent memory. Elder's eyes were almost completely shut when he found a way to stop Burton in the 12th.

I was just talking to someone about this fight earlier and did a search to see if I could find it and this thread came up. One of the greatest, most dramatic fights ive seen, and sadly forgotton by many and never seen by many. At the time this fight was as meaningful for each guys careers as Ward-Gatti, but it went under the radar. Neither guy was the same after that fight and you could literally see the ring years piling up on them round after round. What a greuling war. Going into the fight they were 21-2 and 21-1. After this fight they went 0-5 (5 by ko) collectively. Ebos now retired and preaching I believe and Burton i think is still fighting, but ill never forget the fight these two had that night.
