Just wondering if anyone can help me out on this one. Do the WBC and EBU team up to fix rankings or what? Is there any particular link between the two organisations? Just asking because of something I noticed when having a look at the rankings recently. A couple of months ago I noticed that Simone Maladrottu was given #2 EBU ranking at SBW despite only having 1 fight at the weight against a 15-24 opponent. No big surprises there since Maladrottu is Italian and the EBU are crooked ****ers anyway. But I noticed now that after 2 fights against absolute no marks he has been given the #5 ranking at SBW by the WBC. I just can't get my head around why they would give him the ranking unless there is collusion between the 2. Also I apologise if people get annoyed with me for posting this in the brit forum. I know it is something probably suited to the general forum but they are all such a bunch of twatty *******s in there I thought I'd rather ask you lot instead
Good question. The EBU are probably taking into account the fact that Maladrottu was pretty dominant at Euro level at 118, and with a lack of top quality 122lb'ers in the EU zone their decision is understandable. In terms of the WBC, it is common knowledge that a EBU title will get you in a good place within their rankings - this is clearly a step forward, because common sense would suggest that the EBU holder is either the best at that weight in Europe, or next best behind someone either holding or challenging for a world title. 122lbs isn't the deepest of divisions, ala 135/147 - and the alphabets do not rank champions of other organisations, nor interim champions, or those engaged to fight a final eliminator for another title. So in reality, the WBC may consider him say #10/12ish, but on a technicality his ranking increases. I certainly agree that the alphabet bodies ranking regional champions is a step forward - after all, if you compare the interalphabetty champs vs the Euro champs, I would guess that most of the Euro champions would emerge victorious. I hope this answers your question :good
Historically, the EBU were one of the orgs that helped create the WBC. For this reason, winning the EBU does get you a top ranking.
I think the rule is EBU champs have to be rated top15 WBC. The WBC have another couple of titles that they will give ratings to the champions, whatever title Peter Okhello held was one of them (may be the PABA.)
There are numerous belts like international, loads of asian orgs to. All belts/orgs associated with WBC.
That used to be a rule but not anymore, however if you're an EBU champion you are very likely to be top 15 and if you've made a few defences(no matter what the quality of opposition) you can easily get yourself up to 6th or 7th.
