Eddie Alvares Gets an immediate title shot in UFC?

I don't agree Melendez is the no.2, 3 or 4.

 

He should be more careful throwing chinny guys that can garner a following to the wolves.

He should also give Melendez a tuneup, different stage, many guys tend to underperform their first fight, not all but many.

 

Pettis should get it if he beats Cerrone.

 

Gray Maynard is way more deserving of a title-shot than Melendez or Alvarez. So that's 4. 5 when you consider the consensus on the robberies against Frankie Edgar.

That's 4 or 5 possible contenders. More than any other division.

So, again, if any division needed a tournament -- it's 155lbs. Regardless of contenders -- it's still the top division overall.

 

No. All Gray has done since his two failed shots is win an unimpressive decision over Guida. He more than deserved his first two shots, but he has to win a couple more before getting a third.

 

I feel only Maynard, Diaz, and Pettis can be ranked above him. So that's at least 5?

 

He's still the number 2 lightweight. When a new champion is crowned -- the line should start over.

edit: What I mean is Maynard's next fight should be a #1 contender eliminator.

 

I want Melendez to get it. Have Alvarez fight the Cerrone v Pettis winner.

 

How come Alvarez has this buzz about him, but nothing for the man who beat him in late 2011, Michael Chandler?

 

chandler isn;t as exciting and has less interesting fights.

 

Maynard v Diaz II (really III if you count TUF). Perfect sense, and I don't know why Gray Maynard doesn't have a fight lined up.

I'm all for a tournament too, or a lot of these LWs fighting on the same night. Jamie Varner has always been my man.
