Really? Based on who's opinions? Yours? The rest of the redneck world who thinks UFC is the only place available to watch MMA?
C'mon man...Up until recently all you rednecks (and I'm saying that as a man from West Virginia..Home of the Hillbillies) thought Brock Lesnar was unstoppable, and was the best fighter in the world.
Who's the best now? Cain? Because he beat Brock Lesnar (who apparently even though he can't take a jab somehow is "The Baddest Man on the Planet!")?
Fedor is somewhat shot, BigFoot is a great HW, and Overeem has come in to his own. These guys have fought of the best in the world, and until Fedor's 2 losses now he was obviously the king of the HW MMA world. Who the hell has Cain fought? The UFC HW division sucks. If they were having a tournament right now it'd be full of shot fighters (Nog), fighters who never really reached there potential (Mir), big guys who gas out in no time, or can't take a punch (Carwin, Lesnar, and heck why not bring back Kimbo), and although I will give them a chance to prove themselves and not crap on them- Green fighters, whom when they lose people will write them off as being overhyped (Cain, and Dos Santos). If Overeem or BigFoot comes to UFC I don't think they'll be having many problems. You don't have to fight in the UFC to fight the best obviously.

You ask who Cain has fought and then praise Overeem as a heavweight MMA fighter? RIIIIIIIGHT!

And we've been through this before but a UFC tournament would be no worse and perhaps a bit better than the strikeforce one. People are massively overrating the achievements of the likes of Werdum and Overeem and ignoring the fact that Arlovski is shot while Sergei and Barnett have not fought top competition in years.

Problem is Huerta is still more popular than Alvarez. Nerr? whos that? hes Alvarez level. Hes just promoting himself, most lightweights in the UFC would maul him. UFC is king of the hill right now, theres nothing we can do about it. What we should be hoping for is that the UFC puts out great PPvs and not give us anymore garbage like Penn vs. Fitch as a main.

How are on earth was Fitch vs Penn garbage? A fascinating fight for the first two rounds - incredible gameplan from Penn.

Yes, you are correct...I did ask who Cain has fought, and I did say Overeem was coming in to his own. You can read at least apparently.
UFC (HW) Tournament just as good, or BETTER? LOL. With who? The guys I listed? I listed any HW the UFC hypes and there golden HW's. The very limited Brock Lesnar won that title recently. The belts been held by guys like Tim Sylvia! :dead
Why don't you list why UFC tournament would be just as good, or better, and list who'd be in it, and why there good/ still good? The only two guys you can list that nobody would argue with is Santos and Cain, and nobody can argue because they haven't beaten that many prime HW's, or really fought that many fights. And Santos loses that respect if he gets beaten by Lesnar in his next match...

everyone here know that fedor took out ufc champs like they where garbage bags.
tim sylvia, huge hype around him when in the ufc still the hype follow him into the fedor fight, i ask you how long did that fight last and who won?
Arlovski who was in prime when fought fedor and he became a higlight reel for all the fans to see and laugh at when he plums to the floor like a bag of potatos

Who has Barnett fought let alone beat in the past five years?

Why is Sergei such a brilliant heavyweight when he's fought only thrice in three years.

Why is Werdum so obviously superior to all UFC heavyweights when he had a 2-2 record during his time in the organisation - his last fight being him destroyed by JDS.

If its so laughable that Tim Sylvia was once the champion of UFC, why was Arlovski put in the tournament when he was defeated twice in succession by Sylvia?

If Fedor was truly the greatest heavyweight from 2005 to 2010 why is it that not one single fighter he faced from his victory over Cro Cop to his defeat to Werdum managed to win their next fight other than Matt Lindland who returned to the middleweight division?

If Alistair Overeem is a true heavyweight champion then why has he defended his belt only once in the four years he's reigned?

If Antonio Silva is an absolute beast why wasn't he able to finish a glass jawed Arlovski and was almost blitzed by a light heavyweight?

Are UFC heavyweights perfect? Absolutely not, indeed due to the age of them they're not even proven. But the idea that they are significantly inferior to the eight fighters in the grand prix is ludicrious.

Of course hopefully with the UFC owning both promotions gradually such discussions will become a thing of the past and we can enjoy all the matches we want to be seen being made.

He said UFC fighter's, and it's not just the belt holder's that make this statement ridiculous, the UFC is stacked with the world's deepest talent pool. Granted there are guys that are way overhyped, I get that but Alverez was not making any distinctions.

I think Carwin, Cain, JDS, hell even Frank Mir would be very competitive against the strikeforce heavies, Nog, Cro Cop and Lesnar on the other hand would get sparked by most of the strikeforce guys.

I agree with Nog and Cro Cop (competitive against Arlovski, Barnett and Rogers at most) but you're underselling Lesnar. Lesnar's a weird one in that he's such a throwback to style vs style - his wrestling is so good and he's such a physical freak that he could defeat most of the Strikeforce guys by taking them down and mauling them. Equally the likes of Sergei, Fedor or Overeem could easily knock him out if they can keep the fight standing.

Would really like to see Silva vs. Lesnar btw - would be cool to see Lesnar be the significantly smaller fighter.

I can respect that post, and agree with most. The UFC just hype there fighters way to much. They hyped Mir vs Cro Cop recently for gods sake, and it gets on your nerves. Cro Cop is beyond shot, and Mir was beaten by lesnar, and Carwin.
Styles do make fights though, and if matched up properly I do believe UFC vs SF HW they could win some fights of course. Even lesnar could beat a couple guys if he didn't get punched out first. Nog, Cro Cop, etc should not be around anymore though, and nobody need mention them.
The Grand Prix though for SF...Even if some of them aren't perfect, they are good/ decent in there own way. I'm not so sure you could take 8 UFC HWs for a tournament though and say the same thing. UFC either has shot fighters that they keep making $ off, or just straight new breed. Nobody really proven, and established that continues to consistently fight well.
