Its not a comparison of accomplishment yet, its a comparison in style and defense. Is what it is. Same chubby Amateur HW did same kind of things:good Winks way ahead in accomplishment, Eddies just getting there. Yet Eddie has his own mix to the guard and neither always gets credit for defense. When you stat the fight and end the fight and the only difference on you're face is drops of sweat? Well, you're doing something right. Its Povetkin vs Chambers and we're serving "Pennsylvanian Povetkin":yep Until Eddie loses fat? How bout chubbs Povetkin, you a fan of his??
Yes, I agree with you. Some of these boneheads draw too many conclusions from having seen only one of his fights. If Chambers tries this dumb defensive strategy against Povetkin, he will get himself knocked out. Povetkin is a puncher who needs his vitims to stand in front of him, so obviously stick-and-move is the best way to deal with him. The James Toney imitation he is sometimes puts on display might also work as long as Povetkin cooperates with a headhunting strategy. Counter-punching from inside the pocket is not a good way of avoiding bodyshots. In my view stick-and-move is his only chance if Povetkin brings his A-game. And it is high time he got rid of the baby fat!
Boneheads?? STFU and go stick some turkey in you're mouth:good I've got a good deal of history and experience in and around the game. I've seen Chambers from early Pittsburgh amateur ON.. before Philly:good Dude has always had some fat and STFW:good Its never affected his performance or hand speed. Like i said i hear a lot of people raving about Povetkin while putting Chambers down and POVETKINS AS FAT OR FATTER:yep Eddie's ALWAYS had a HIGH GUARD STYLE anyone who hasnt seen him use it, is either full of ****, or confused:yep He can box them, walk to his opponents, and has always had good strength considering his build. I have CLEARLY SAID at least twice that THERE ARE STYLE SIMILARITIES:yep No ones stating that Chambers is a carbon copy of Wright:nono Chambers has had flaws like anyone, but his progression has been steady. Cant wait for the fight!!!
Yeah, he made Brock look like a bum. I think Klit ruined Brock. Chambers style reminds me of Winky though. Defense not as tight, but he's quicker.
Good guess, ralphc! However,I quite disagree with you.Povetkin was a superstar at the amateurs-Brock was a nodoby who couldnt hold a candle to the one of the most dominating amateur heavies of all timesovetkin. Well,Povetkin is not superman. He lost some fights at the amateurs, too. But all the guys who were able to defeat him then were big strong punchers like Koeber or Timurziev-no skinny runners with little pop in their fists. Chambers isnt the type of fighter who poses a serious threat to Povetkin.
Only saw the fight Chambers-Brock. From what I saw in that fight, Chambers isn't half as talented as Winky Wright.
Chambers ISNT a RUNNER:nono Eddie will stand in pocket and spin, counter, and push Povetkin back:good I just cant wait to hear the excuses doled out afterwards
Style similarity doesnt equal TALENT:nono But its STYLE SIMILARITY thats being referred to in this case.
Ok, lets assume that is all true, then Chambers had better stick-and-move to avoid getting his head punched in!:yep
Chambers seems like the type that fights up or down to his opponent...Dominick Guinn was in much better shape than Brock was for Chambers, and Chambers looked good beating a motivated Guinn...Chambers didn't look as good against an overweight, sluggish Brock...
:heyHe has no choice, ralphc! Going toe to toe with Povetkin is surely not the best strategy for Chambers!
yeah, ive seen him fight 3x, one time live at the blue horizon. Who are you mang? Ive met Chambers before at the blue horizon when I was watching some other fights, including Max Alexanders 3rd fight. Good guy.
Chambers is heading nowhere. He will be KOed in the upcoming bout with Povetkin and he'll fall down flat meeting canvas with his face.
