I subscribe to Fast Eddie's page and he comments on there sometimes. The latest: "Everybody my next fight hasn't been signed yet but for everybody that pays attention to this my fan page heres an insider it will probably be against Tony Thompson in Atlantic City on the Andre Ward vs. Carl Froch Super Six card!" I asked him "Eddie, everyone is talking about a possible Eddie Chambers vs. David Haye fight. Would you rather fight him or Povetkin?" Eddie responded: "I would fight both of em same night if they let me I want them both!"
Exactly. Would be a huge shame if its wasn't. I've been hoping that Showtime would pick up the HW cards since HBO only wants the megafights. Also, he's got a big grudge against Povetkin and says sometimes that he wants to avenge that loss.
Why wouldn't Showtime air this fight? It's a final eliminator for a shot at Wladimir and it's likely to be highly competitive.
Chambers-Thompson would be a good fight. I'd like to see it, even if it might wind up a dull tactical snoozefest. I'm probably in the minority, but I like Fast Eddie as a fighter.
The American networks don't want to remind the public that the two best Americans both got crushed by Wlad. They would rather show a nothing fighter like Stiverne knock over trash cans and winning a 'silver title' than face the reality that Europe owns the heavyweight division, thus owns boxing. Bigotted and extremely unfair to a fighter like Chambers who actually has a very good record and deserves respect.
