Where does the winner of this fight rank in the Heavyweight Division? I think I would pass the winner of this fight over Valuev or Chagaev, regardless of belts. Chambers has beat Calvin Brock, Sam Peter.
chambers has no power and bad stanima but it looked like he had a solid chin in the povetkin fight dimitrenko by UD
Wladimir Klitschko is around Dimitrenko's size and he is the best HW in the world, as long as the fighter is trained well and is skilled the fighter can be a succesful big man.
Vitali and Vlad are not slow by any means. The heavyweight champions of the world today are Vlad - 6'7" Vitali - 6'8" Valouev 7"2"
Chambers is very underrated here, Chambers has said that he will fight ANY heavyweight no matter how big they are. Chambers wouldn't be in the heavyweight division thinking he can duck boxers that are too big. He's confident and I predict he will beat Dimitrenko despite what some people think.
Chambers has good power, he almost shut Povetkin's left eye despite a low work-rate. Byrd hit Povetkin much more than Chambers did and there wasn't even a mark on Povetkin's face. That's a testament to how good Chambers power is. The stamina issue could be addressed by getting in shape which he is doing right now.
Dimitrenko should win this and here's why: Chambers high guard counterpuncher style is best suited to forward movers who don't throw huge volumes of punches, thus allowing him to pick off their shots and counter in flurries. This was the case in his biggest wins over Guinn, Brock, and Peter. The styles that can beat him are forward movers that throw a lot of punches and long range fighters that will make it difficult for Chambers to lie back and counter. Povetkin was the former, Dimitrenko is the latter. While Dimitrenko doesn't have a ramrod jab or particularly great skills, he does have length. I really think he'll make this a distance fight, forcing Chambers to make the decision to come forward out of defensive mode and take the fight to Dimitrenko. There is some interest into whether or not he's willing to do this. My personal sense is that AD's jab is good enough to keep Chambers largely at bay and his right hand is effective enough to deter him on the inside if he does come forward. The result should be Dimitrenko tapping out a decision, I'd say somewhere in the 117-111 neighborhood.
So far, two fighters landed good punches on Dimitrenko: Timo Hoffmann, who is 6'8 and Krasniqi in the first two rounds. Krasniqi is 6'3 and used every bit of footspeed and reach he had to junp in and land overhand rights. Chambers doe have fast hands but not the footspeed to get inside like Krasniqi did. He also doesn't throw overhand punches. I don't see him landing anything meaningful on Dimitrenko.
I think Dimetrenko wins. Chambers is basically an overweight cruiserweight. He doesn't impress me much. He's essentially a poor man's Chris Byrd. However, I agree that he and and and his management deserve credit for the opposition they've taken on.
On paper yes and when looking at the matchup. But you're clearly underestimating Chambers if you think he's just a layed-back counter-puncher. Chambers has a lot of skill, natural boxing ability, and ring intelligence to do what's necessary to win, even if he's seriously outsized.
I think Chambers has skills, but my main worry is the way in which he tends to fade quite a lot in the second half of the fight. He seems to go into cruise mode. Doing that against another good (if stand-up) boxer in Dimitrenko, away from home, is a potential reciepe for giving rounds away. So I think this one is quite difficult to call really. I originally thought Chambers but I now think Dimitrenko may be a safer bet.
You havent been impressed yet by Chambers. But if Chambers wins this fight, he will have victories over Calvin Brock, Sam Peter, and Alexander Dimitrenko.
Perfect example of wlad klitschko nuthugging right here. Yeah peter looked like he always looks yet he was able to floor wlad klitschko's egg chin ass 3 times.
