Eddie Chambers vs James Toney

Discussion in 'World Boxing Forum' started by Ripple633, Jul 16, 2009.

  1. Toney is a very old 41, fat, short, and really dosent a ****, thats why he only fights 2x a year, Eddie would outpoint burger king boy very easily..:deal BTW Oquendo was ripped off in that fight, Toney has a history of getting breaks from the judges..

James Toney wouldn't be a tune-up for anyone.

Plus - fighting Toney isn't going to help him when he does fight Klits - so why take the risk.

Why would Chambers waste his time fighting a fat midget when he is preparing to fight Wlad? That is idiotic. He needs to fight a taller opponent to get ready for Klitschko and his management knows this.

I know i stop caring about Oquendo after the Ruiz fight...but thats not the point, is the fact that like someone mentioned here, freaking judges like to give round to Toney for some reason

I do like that way you put that tho :yep

Well he did fight Dimitrenko which is great preparation for a tall boxer like Wlad. He can fight the winner of the Johnson/Solis fight. Some would say Johnson is a risk, but Johnson is similar to Wlad because he has a strong jab.

Exactly, however, i think Chambers would be better off to fight a tall opponent, as a (probably futile) preparation for Wlad. Toney and Wlad have as much in common as an autistic dwarf and a crack *****. A guy like McCline (if he isn't retired) would be better, or Austin.

Chambers would beat Toney using his speed and end up winning a somewhat close decision. A Toney fight isn't going to prepare him for Klitschko, so he should fight a tall fringe contender.

If you know you are going to fight a 6'5" 245 ib fighter that is always in shape who has 1 punch KO power with great footwork, why would you use Toney as a warm up fight

I do think Chambers would be best served fighting a tall and big opponent. Someone like a Tony Thompson type. Someone who could trouble him and make him work for the win.

I don´t think Toney would be much of a risk these days. If Samuel Peter managed to outbox Toney, Eddie Chambers for sure can do the same. He´s faster and has way better workrate as of now. That being said it wouldn´t be a fight that make any sense imo. Chambers is looking for a title shot and as all those belt holders are huge of size it would make sense for Eddie to fight a taller fiighter as a tune up.

He's better off taking a tune-up with someone tall if he's looking for a fight with Wladimir. Thompson, Austin or Golota are all better tune ups.
