Both fighters are 36-2, only being ko'd once, by Wlad. Solid match up, in the poor heavyweight division.

No matter what you think of either fighter, who do you got?

I say Eddie manages to secure a comfortable decision, as he seems to be good at fighting taller fighters that aren't Wladimir Klitschko.

    Chambers UD12 Thompson.

    Thoughts?

Definitely a quality match up. I feel thompson is slowing down at his advanced age. Thompson of 3-5 years ago vs Eddie, i would favor thompson. However right now I have to favor a motivated chambers. Definitely goes to decision either way.

That's a little eerie that they both wind up heading into their long-anticipated match with the same record. :err :yep

Even though they've both already lost to the champ, these guys are still the two best heavyweight contenders out there - and pretty hard to separate. It's only fitting that they square off for the right to a rematch.

Chambers by UD in a mismatch. Thompson too old too slow. A motivated Chambers would just beat him to the punch possibly even stopping him with a barrage of unanswered punches. Thompson looked horrible vs Harris took him forever to finish him.

What's your call on this on IB?? :bbb

I agree, it is a bit crazy their w/l record is the same, and they have both only been straight ko'd once, by the same man, late in the fight.

Although Thompson is deff still a threat, I too think age is only catching up to him at this point.

I will give Chambers full credit, as Tony is one of the most dangerous non-titelists out there he can face at the moment (in America anyway).

Tough one. Chambers has only fought once in the last year and a half, to Thompson's three...yet Chambers has logged one round more. The Tiger's been knocking suckas out left and right, but those suckas are of slightly lesser quality than Derric Rossy (not that he's any great shakes himself) - and Fast Eddie was never a puncher besides, and so shouldn't be graded as one. Neither has looked their most spectacular, nor does it seem either was "ruined" by WK.

    :think

Based on their recent performances, I'm going to say Chambers on points but with the expectation that anything could happen here (other than a KO1 either way...or Fan Man showing up)

Tony Thompson is looking his age, he was so slow and wide
against Mo Harris. He is not the same fighter. Chambers wins
this one UD. Anyone not named Klitschko has their hands full
    with fast Eddie

Decent match up between two of the better heavyweighs out there. I think Thompson will pull this one out of the bag and I'd love for him to fight Arreola.

    Hopefully.

In a strange boxing twist, it would actually raise the profile of this fight for it to be on Friday instead of Saturday as originally planned (on the Froch-Ward card, as Showtime staunchly refuses to air any undercards on the Super Six broadcasts)

I may not have the same pick as you in this one, but I will say, that the winner of this one fighting Arreola would be cool too.

Chambers outboxes Gumby Thompson easily to a wide an uneventful UD.

Do not hold your breath for TV coverage. Sowtime network will spend half of their two hour block fellating themselves over what a great job they did with their Super 6 tournament coming to fruition.
