Without his 'head-demons' and that 'let's try the HW' division, IMO Eddie could have been one of the top 10 atg's ever!
He's still a better LH (not to mention 'fighter' duh) than Michael Spinks. **** the detractors. After the Snipes BS, he had to get into a steam machine before the fight just to make weight. He looked like a shriveled up pear when he stepped in against Mike and...still...the Associated Press scored the fight a draw. Granted it was his fault.
What an ATG fighting machine if his head had been on straight. I'd love to meet him and talk to him.

James would edge the eccentric and inconsistent Eddie over the distance.

Good post. I also believe Eddie G. could have been an alltime great. Could box very well in an amazingly relaxed fashion. Had a good beard and could really punch. Unfortunately he was incredibly lazy (2nd only to Ray Mercer) and basically blew his career.

I also get a kick when I see an exfighter who was lazy as hell, becomes a trainer. Seriously, WTF?

I believe that Eddie Gregory/ Mustafa Muhammad was the most talented light heavyweight of his day, but he had far too many indifferent performances. It seemed like he lacked the fire in the belly that his contemporaries such as Matthew Saad Muhummad, Michael Spinks, Victor Galindez and Alvaro Lopez had in abundance.

    Eddie would school Kinchen.

    Different level of fighters here.

This quote says it all....and I couldn't help but think this when I was watching the Gregory-Scott fight the other day...I mean, the guy was a real waste of talent. Just think of Eddie Mustafa vs Marvin Johnson....THAT version of Mustafa beats damned near everybody....and certainly Kinchen...he'd extinguish "The Heat" in 5 or 6, easily.

Mustafa, at his best, had power, brains, cool and cunning personified.

I think there was a reason most did not rematch Eddie Mustafa Muhammad...
