I think he's talking about KO Morgan, the bantamweight, who beat Benny Lynch and Sixto Escobar.

have you seen that ko morgan fight?

and it would be nice if Sixto Escobar had changed his name to Six Toe Escobar.

Questionable is to understate it completely.

Just 6 months after Arguello-Pryor, Panama Lewis put one over on the NYSAC, when he plastered Luis Resto's handwraps and removed the paddings from his gloves as well.
That was at New York Madison Square Garden in front in the presence of an established commision.

.......you're going to tell me that 6 months earlier Panama did'nt do such a thing with Aaron Pryor in Miami and with a "newly formed " commission looking on?

The reports are that the commision was so disorganized in Miami that they were scrambling to find a ring bell before the fights got under way because they did'nt think of bringing one.:patsch

Nah, Panama Lewis was'nt going to pull one over on a newbie commision. Not Panama Lewis......

He'll pull one over on an established commission 6 months later in Newyork, but nah, his heart was to soft to pull one over on a newly established commision in Miami.:nut

......and btw, on the outcome being questionable had Pryor fought clean.
Arguello had fought back in the middle to late rounds and to many peoples view including that of the HBO commentators, had put himself in a position to possibly win the fight in those last two rounds.......then Pryor gulps down the concoction, and after looking exhausted and beat after the 13th, springs to life to start the 14th and savagely stops Arguello.

Arguello was in the fight even against a cheating Pryor, what doubt could there be that Pryor would have been physically worn and incapable of the sudden bursts of energy that he showed throughout that fight and especially the 14th when he had looked dead and winded right before then.

Logic tells me Arguello would have imposed his will and physical conditioning on Pryor.
Conditioning and the late rounds had always been an Arguello trademark, but this time against Pryor, Pryor would come back to life after looking winded and tired.

    Great stuff, thanks for this.

It's good to see someone rates Arguello higher than me, but only just. Futch was also full of admiration for Pep.

    :lol::lol:

Thanks for this, you have me interested in him now.

lynch didn't have many more fights at that stage so its a back handed compliment to him that he took morgan the distance whilst already an alcoholic

KO Morgan despite his name wasn't much of a puncher, and Lynch had beaten Jackie Jurich just months before.

I do agree though that the fight hardly represents Lynch's peak capabilities. He came into the fight a slob.

It's nice to see Futch was appreciative of KO Morgan's defensive skills.

I've been singing Morgan's praises in this regard for some time now.

:goodhe outweighed morgan i think.i think lynch was by then over 9 stone.you're right about morgan not being a big puncher.
lynch at his peak was as fast as lightning, a big puncher with his left hook, took a punch well and loved to train
