:goodNice, John. Eddie had a terrific ring IQ as well. I always felt he was a total natural and very comfortable in the ring as well. Sometimes too comfortable.

He still accomplished a helluva lot, J:good. That era was stacked and he was one of the best.

I would have to go with Bob on a late round stoppage of sorts. Bob was a terrific all rounder at his weight, and his only losses came against heavyweights iirc.

    Greeting klompton!
Did you see the Spinks fight? Do you know the circumstances leading up to it?
Head case Eddie had moved up to Heavy???? to take on Snipes which still boggles my mind. :nut
I think he had to lose 8-10 lbs. in the last two days before defending against Spinks. He walked into the ring looking like a shriveled pear.
That wasn't 'prime time Eddie' but he still had the lead halfway thru the fight and took a prime 'Jinx' right which dumped him in the (13th or 14th) and still finished on his feet. The Associated Press scored the fight a draw.
IMO Eddie was a better fighter than Michael and you can't use that fight to trowel out some: "see! The Jinx was clearly a better fighter."
Back to thread. Nothing more to say that I didn't in my previous posts. You just never knew which Eddie would show up.

Mustafa was neatly outboxing Spinks before weight drainage, a badly swollen left eye (probably from an elbow or thumb from memory) and a Spinks that was coming on combined to derail him mid fight. Mustafa's was smooth as silk early. Around about the 8th he had trouble seeing and it only got worse.

Mustafa had to lose 1 3/4lbs pronto after a late weigh in and prior to this had lost at least 27 pounds in 2 months.

    Little wonder he struggled.

Remember watching the Gregory Johnson fight as a kid on British tv in awe. It was one of the best displays of body punching and punch picking I'd seen in a world title challenge. What surprised me the most was that the only other time I'd seen Eddie fight was against James Scott when he looked quite lacklustre. We didn't get all the American fights on British tv like we do now. I had seen Matt Franklin against Marvin Johnson and Johnson against Victor Galindez though. By the way no disrespect to the fighters mentioned I'm using the names they were known by at the time.
