Strongmen of old made very little money. Look at the likes of Magnus ver Magnusson.

Nowadays, thanks to social media, there's plenty of money to be made and this is only a product of the current landscape. You have relatively useless strongmen like Robert Oberst making a big name for himself.

Eddie Hall is one of the most egotistical human beings to ever set foot on earth. That said, I don't mind the guy. Hafthor Bjornsson seems a bit more grounded, but is not classically charismatic like Jon Pal Sigmarsson. His persona stems from his size and that only.

They are both juiced to the gills, even more so than your favourite heavyweight boxers. They won't have many more years to cash in on such an event, so it is unsurprising that they are trying something like this.

Let's be honest, it would be ludicrous. They would both be punching through treacle and you would need to watch the footage a 1.5x speed (at least).

Who wouldn't want to box the one guy that he reallxmy dislikes at work while making a lot more money than at your actual job?
With that kind of additional money they'd be set for life when their career as strongmen is over.

 

Mariusz actually having a decent MMA career in Poland’s KSW, they are free to juice there so he have a winning record against some decent opponents.
