In his post fight interview he has said he has pencilled in fighting at Bramall Lane Aug 29th. He hasn't even enquired or looked into this as I know for a fact the answer will be no. We have just spent 750k on a new pitch, do you honestly think we would have a boxing event on 3 weeks into the season? Not to mention fixtures are not out yet, we might be at home that day. The window for a stadium fight at the Lane was between May and early June and you missed that window because you got giddy and wanted to put Kell in a PPV fight which should never have happened. The Gavin fight has 1. Totally ruined Gavin, you have played chess and he was a pawn and i think you should treat your people better than that. 2. Gave more fuel to the doubters that Kell only fights people that are leagues below him. 3.Cost Kell ££££ by robbing him of a chance of fighting at his football clubs ground against a decent opponent. Eddie you have lost all the above because you was so desperate for a PPV show. Not to mention Dave Ryan and hibbert, them blokes should have had there rematch in a full venue headlining a Saturday fight night. Not at 5pm on a Saturday afternoon in front of 18,000 plastic seats.
You can't make an omelette without breaking a few eggs unfortunately. I said this originally Frankie Gavin was signed to be a semi-credible name for Brook to add another W to his resume. I don't want to say he was cannon fodder but i believe that was sort of Hearn's intention. I don't see where Gavin can go perhaps European level with a fight maybe against a Paulie Malignaggi in the pipeline who knows. It's not really uncommon for a promoter to lie about a next fight to build interest for their fighter. I think he's said that because it wouldn't sound good if he said nothing had been booked. He has pressure from sky. I don't think it's totally ruined Gavin yet. I think there's guys he can still fight and he may come again. Although, I think he needs to go down to light-welterweight or even lightweight if it's possible he could make it. As i think lightweight would give him the best chance of winning a world title. I'm not sure it's possible, though. Either way i believe Hearn did sort of sign Gavin for a name for Brook but who knows. He may genuinely want to build his career.
It will be Brandon Rios. I think Thurman would be too expensive. Robert Garcia has come here with Gradovich and he will come here again for the right money with Rios. It will actually not be easy for the first 6 or so rounds and after that Brook would just tee off on Rios and win a UD.
Ah yeah and reason number 5) to make that mismatch last night you totally ruined the Birmingham card a few weeks ago, robbing punters in a city which your trying to crack. Hope you enjoy the money you made last night, shame you didn't see the bigger picture
I agree, only the main event was a mismatch. The Selby-Gradovich and Mitchell-Linares match were both great match-ups and the undercard was also competitive (Just forget the Cleverly 'match'). The best Matchroom card I've seen since ... I can't remember.
Kell didn't make his comeback after a horrific injury until 28 March. It was unlikely his promoter was going to build a stadium fight for 8 weeks after that (unless Khan grew a pair). Gavin was the one who called for the fight. Plenty of big fights ahead for Kell.
That old chestnut! That title is getting held hostage, simple. No Mayweather/Manny/Thurman/Bradley fights. It'll be Rios, Algeri, Berto and then maybe Khan.
How can you complain? You said Porter would smash him and Gavin would beat him. Shut the door on the way out. :hi:
So? We al get fights wrong from time to time. I'm complaining because people have to pay to see Kell face bums now. What, paying £15 twice in two months to see him fight guys that aren't the stars of the division, yet Kell holds a major belt? Sky must love you.
A few days ago you said Gavin was going to become world champion. Now you're claiming he's a bum.atsch
Compared to who Brook SHOULD be fighting, he is a bum. He isn't even euro-level, but guess what? you paid £15 to see that!
He's done a great job he managed to bury the truth bout brooks *** and drug issues and is marketing him well building him up to a fight where he can cash him out where they both get paid a chunk to lose to Khan great promoting imo he has a limited fighter who packing out stadiums and earning well
