It's not standard . You are talking bs

This is Eddie's new way of dealing. Whyte had a rematch he wasn't even the champ ffs

Rematch clause should always be there when your a titleholder. It’s what got him the opportunity to win back his titles from Ruiz.

That's why the old WBA in the 1960s banned it. From 1957 (when Patterson lost to Ingo) to 1966 -- nearly nine years - basically four men fought for the heavyweight title, because they kept exercising rematch clauses.

Those four were Patterson, Johansson, Liston and Ali. Patterson fought Johansson three times in a row, Patterson fought Liston twice in a row, Liston fought Ali twice in a row ... then Ali fought Patterson.

The only odd man who snuck in during those nine years was Tom McNeeley, who wasn't even highly rated, but was an optional defense by Floyd.

At that point, so many contenders had missed out on title shots over those nine years that the WBA banned the practice when Ali won the title. Then Ali signed for a rematch with Liston, and they stripped him.

It's easy for a couple people to monopolize a title if they keep exercising rematch clauses.

    This one, yeah.

I think if Usyk had opportunity to enforce purse bid or A.J to drop belt if he will not sign rematch clause and did not had balls?

He will be worse boxing promoter than kalle etc lads for sure.
With honoUr and 5 m in pockets you can make more than with this eddie papers signing and collecting paychecks from eddie.
He will not beat ref, judges and A.J twice in eddie show.

He is done. Totally done if he had signed rematch clause.

Usyk hype train is died if he had signed this one.

Rematch clauses should be banned unless both parties have it with exactly the same terms.
    That would help a little.
    It's a joke of a sport though.

For anyone defending Hearn, do you muppets not remember he recently had a rematch clause for an elimination fight? If you can't work out how absurdly corrupt that is, nobody can help you.

Pro boxing fans largest proportion is most stupid ppl form ALL sports fans.
They are stupid and they need well developed and highly marketed brands - boxers with high KO % and they should look impressive vs opponents in away corner.
Then these brands gets belts and paying customers are happy: the best boxer in universe fighting 1 X or at max 2 X per 1 calendar year in promoter's backyard and with clauses.

LOL, and they does have belts etc decorations and clauses even in eliminators.

    " Sport " events, LOL.

I a bit happy that YT lad vs wrestler might earn a lot of money or out of retirement boxer vs MMA lad, without belts.

This will be future of boxing, reality = money = rules.
Not belts, alphabet orgs etc noise.
    HOF etc other useless ****.

Eddie should create matchroom belt, Dana at least was honest and introduced UFC belts for MMA.

Covid has slowed things down to such an extent that for the time being at least it should be banned across the board.

Usyk probably got compensated for the rematch clause. I am sure he would rather fight joshua and get paid rather than fight for the vacant belt especially at his age. Blame the mandatory challengers for accepting these contracts. Wlad did the same thing to fury

So if Usyk loses he can exercise a rematch clause?

Fury did not had fought rematch vs Wlad because he had other interests rather than boxing after first fight he had won.

Maybe, pro boxing belts etc are papers for fans but pro boxing is about money only.
    Nothing else.

Ruiz is A.J DAD and belts will not change this.
Johansson had KOed Patterson and Patterson avenged loss with 2 wins in row in rematches.
Ruiz stopped A.J and A.J thinks that he now is champion cos he does have belts and outpointed Ruiz in rematch.
HW champion of the world cos he does have these paper entertainment belts.
Not likely, I think only if big cash cow will loss then will be rematch.

Boxers in mandatory positions these day will happily sell on their right to no rematch for an exta 15/20 per cent

there is also thing like step aside money, some takes also this alone.

Pro boxing is more about to entertain people and earn money.
This is not thing about the best boxer etc sales nonsense here.

I U are big cash cow, U even do not need any belt to earn money.
LOL at belts and pro boxing.

Usyk mandatory for W. B. O only so rematch is justified as Joshua will be putting all the belts on the line, bringing all the ppv money and its good business for Usyk anyways!! No rematch needed tho think Usyk will get knocked out late!
