are you ******ed? It was a question asked by a british interviewer regarding a fight in Britain...are you so deluded as to believe that Thurman is more well known over here in England than Kell?

Eddie was just stating facts, noone over here outside of a few thousand hardcore fans would have a clue who Thurman is. If they want a routine defence at home they're hardly going to pick the one who is most difficult and yet still brings nothing to the table.

Don't get me wrong as a fan Brook - Thurman is the fight I want to see, but we all know how boxing works and they're obviously going to explore the better risk/reward options first...

There are much easier fights that will be much easier to sell...

Rios - shown over here in 2 FOTYs, went 12 with Manny

    Khan - speaks for itself.

Bundu - just pulled off a shock win over a highly rated Brit

Even your Soto-Karass/Lopez's are probably in the mix because they are about as meaningful a name to the average bloke on the street over here as Thurman and they'd cost a fraction of the amount to bring over.

Keith has great potential but this is a step up too soon for him. His leaky defense/shaky chin get him KO'd against TSO right now

He's right, the casual fan has no idea who the hell Thurman is. On either side of the Atlantic. I can't see any positive whatsoever in putting your fighter in with Thurman at the stage Brook is at. Thurman has himself to blame. Brook has just won a world title. For all the hype, Thurman has nothing. Goldenboy and Haymon could have made the fight with Porter yet they didn't. Them's the breaks.

No doubt that in the US Thurman is the better known fighter, but not in the UK. They may well fight further down the line but Hearn will want to build that fight, as I guess would Thurman's promoter before it actually happens.

In the meantime Brook will make a voluntary, low risk defence, then I guess face Khan in spring (it won't sell out Wembley but will draw a big gate and do well on Sky pay per view in the UK). Its worth considering that Froch is supposed to have grossed £10m (circa $15m US) and Groves £2m (circa $3m US) as this helps to understand why the Khan fight is attractive as at this stage a fight with Thirman will be worth nowhere near as much. If Thurman keeps winning then I wouldn't be surprised to see a Vegas fight between him and the winner of Brook/Khan, assuming that they don't get a Pacquiao or Mayweather fight first.

Its all about the money and given the potentially very short period that fighters earn the big bucks you can't really blame them given what they endure and risk. Would you do any different until you had achieved true financial security for your family?
