He clearly had a big dispute with them but with that being said the Sauerlands other main guys like Groves, Price, Braehmer don’t seem to have any issues with them
Didn't Robert Helenius have problems with the Saunderlands? Obviously Helenius isn't/wasn't one of there main guys but he still had problems with them (just thought I'd point that out).
Dillian Whyte, Masher Dodd & Dave Allen. The work he's done with these guys always showed me he cares a bit. What you're saying is news to me but it just proves it even more.
Dillian Whyte isn't even signed to matchroom is he? For a guy with no contract his certainly looked after.
He is signed but it’s on a fight by fight basis. It’s like a company hiring a contractor, and they just keep extending the contract essentially you become one of their employees just you both have more flexibility.
I don’t think he’s shady at all. He looks after his fighters, picking the right fights at the right time whilst getting them paid for good PPV numbers. If he feels one of his fighters isn’t ready he won’t let it happen, he’s protecting his assets. He’s actually an excellent promoter. Not liking him for not making mega-fights like it’s a console game is immature
I think all promoters are shady, it’s the nature of the business, you will have to screw some people over in order to do well. Look at his stubhub dealings, where he is buying his tickets and selling them at a marked up price, that’s breaking the law or at least being very loose with the law. So you think Kell Brook was ready to fight GGG? How about Dave Allen fighting Ortiz on short notice? Come on I don’t blame him for offering the fight to them but to send those guys in with the idea that they are ready would be crazy.
As you said, certain dealings are part of the business. As for putting Brook in with Golovkin and Allen with Ortiz, it was a good opportunity for both guys to get their name out there to a wider audience and a good payday. Huge risks that didn’t pay off. AJ v Wlad just about paid off, it nearly went horribly wrong. Taking risky fights is part of the game
Kell Brook never had a chance in hell against GGG just like Allen didn’t against Ortiz. How about Frankie Gavin vs Brook, fletcher vs Jacobs.
Anthony Joshua can make 5-800 million pound in the next 8-10 years. Of course he won’t make his biggest fights yet, and those fights (Fury, Wilder) gonna get bigger. He is a smart guy and usually keeps it real. Obviously there is no 50-50 split with Wilder who was absolutely unknown before the Fury fight which he lost. Most of his fighters making very very good money. If I would be a boxer I would like to go to Matchroom.
He is shady as they come and I can't stand the way he does business. "Negotiating" fights through the media and constantly talking about money and dogging everyone that's not under his banner.
I don’t like that too but he looks after his fighters for the most part win lose or draw they get chances.
