Eddie Hearn has alluded to this before but he said recently that he was in New York looking at office space and setting up in the States. Talking to broadcasters etc... He is also talking about sending fighters to fight out there with Dillian Wyte etc... Question is how do you think Eddie Hearn would get on promoting in the US Market?
To be a true success he obviously needs some top American fighters to join his gang. He can have some success with his biggest name Brits and Europeans but it seems only Americans and Mexicans can be real stars over there. That isnt a dig i have no doubt its the same everywhere, apart from Germany. But where as alot of the big time promoters have gone too far in their protection of their money making stars Hearn is a bit braver and wont step in the way of his fighters when they want to get in the ring with a Wladimir Klitchko or Errol Spence even when he clearly thinks its not a good idea. It would not surprise me if he started picking off some big name Americans who have become a bit stale or sick of not getting good fights. He should go get Wilder.
This content is protected They already love him. Leonard Ellerbe and Mayweather put people to sleep in this press conference, then comes along Edward and the crowd all cheer for him. His charms will win over the US crowd and everyone already know when it comes to actually promoting fights and creating buzz, nobody does it better than fast car Eddie.
Hearn is going to takeover boxing, Matchroom is the #1 promotional outfit today and is only going to get bigger.
I think he'll do well...probably needs a generous backing of a casino imo. 2017 has been a great year but there's still lots of fights to be made! Hearn going to Vegas will only help.
100% agree with all the comments so far... I think he will nail it. Another thing I reckon will be in his favour is his reputation of handling the business side of the game well... for my mind I can't think of any fighter that has said they got screwed out of money or contracts were dodgy etc Something not a lot of promotors can say... especially in the states.
