He possibly delivered irrepairable damage to boxing but apparently made good money so fair play to him. Fisher v Allen 2 would be a fitting retirement fight that encapsulates his legacy.
What will happen to Frank Smith? He might consider getting in contact Turki and Dana about any Hot Beverage Manager vacancies available.
We used to have a guy on here that was the head barista at Matchroom’s HQ. @Trafford I think it was
Frank Smith will be fine. If he loses his job at Matchroom, I know other promoters who will offer him employment.
It seems quite hard to stay out of work in boxing. People keep bouncing back and turning up again after bad patches.
Guaranteed future TV revenue with young stars rising to drive it and the darts audience getting younger and wealthier. Matchroom has a playbook - they develop sports to the point they become safe, global TV rights. The 30-40 shows a year around the world are probably locked in now, and even though they won't be at Joshua level they keep filling airtime for a decent demographic. The revenue will be more predictable than 2 AJ fights a year. They've done it with snooker, darts and the fringe stuff they do like tenpin bowling, pool, fishing, etc. TV companies need airtime. Given all of the above, there's probably never been a better time to cash out Matchroom while the old man is still there to see the end of it.
It's funny how the rhetoric from Matchroom´s people has changed in the last 10 days. Now the boxing world "is full of bad people and you can't trust anyone" ??? WTF...? This is how the boxing world has worked for the last 70 - 80 years.
