People will take the bite, he knows what he is doing, he is winding people up. It gets people talking, which is his job as a promoter. *Just watched the full interview, taken out of context with a clickbait title. He was right it wasn't great until the later rounds. He gave Fury a lot of praise.
If you were expecting fireworks and the best action fight ever you’d be disappointed. I was personally expecting a snooze fest and felt it was a great fight and much better than I expected. If Whyte - Chisora went the same way up until the later rounds people would be disappointed as everyone is expecting an all out war like the first fight.
It wasn't a great fight until the knock downs because before that it was like Fury vs Wladamir, a one-sided boxing clinic from Fury. But the fight became great and dramatic when Wilder scored the knockdowns. It was still good before that don't get me wrong, but the knockdowns and the late drama made it truly great.
It was dramatic 'the night of the fight' because people felt Wilder could end it with any shot, and people didn't know how Fury would perform, and Wilder was swinging a lot. So people were on the edges of their seats. If you watch it after the fact and know Wilder doesn't land those shots, and you know the knockdowns don't come until later, and you know Fury outboxes him most rounds, of course, there is less drama. It's the same reason a couple people had heart attacks and died while listening to Dempsey-Tunney II ON THE RADIO in 1927. If you watch that fight or listen on the radio, no one today fears they will suffer a heart attack upon viewing it. But it was dramatic that night. It's the same with EVERY fight where the outcome is known. Is this news to anyone? It was a wonderful fight.
The fight was excellent live due to the buzz and anticipation. Watching again after the event, perhaps not the most entertaining.
He's spot on. Fury is a spoiler whose style is defensively focused, the fight was a one-sided clinic where Fury even won the rounds he was down in, and the only thing that made the fight dramatic was to see if he could last the last round yet he ended up winning it. Was no Kownacki vs Martin or Whyte vs Chisora, that's for sure.
MOST HILARIOUS COMMENT OF THE DAY. Yes, we'll all never forget where we were when we saw that all-timer. Glad they combined all the hundreds of threads started on this board after that thriller. Thank you for that.
