Are you genuinely saying that Broner is fighting 700 miles from his hometown so people don't accuse him of being a stay at home fighter?

nobody in the US is traveling 700 miles to A city to watch a boxing show with 1 good match. He would sell more tickets in his hometown but that is not the best biz plan. People in the US dont leave their house for a baseball game down the street. Broner is not a superstar in America yet. You have to earn things here unlike the UK where you hype up people like Ricky Burns.

Yeah we Brits overhype our fighters, but proud to be British we support them and go to the fights live and create an atmosphere. I was at Haye-Chisora and the atmosphere at Upton Park was amazing, when Haye made his entrance the crowd went mad. American fans don't seem to support their fighters in a similar way? Guys like Mayweather, Roy Jones, Hopkins are such great fighters, but if they were British they would be icons, look at how much support Hatton, Calzaghe and even a solid fighter like Clinton Woods had

Broner-Burns would do a lot more money in the UK, because Ricky Burns has a fanbase unlike Broner

Maybe an American fighter should try and get a place of the Froch-Kessler undercard. Andre Ward for instance. He could use the exposure.

You dumb? You basically seem to have a mix of agreeing with me and not understanding my posts.

I never said that anyone should travel 700 miles to see him fight. I said he's an American fighting in America - it shouldn't matter where he fights. Are there no Americans living near Atlantic city?

The Klitchskos can pick any town in Germany and people in that area will flock to see them. British fighters sell out arenas all over the country.

    Again, lame.

Hype people up = turn out to watch and support fighter. You seem to be making childish opinions and belittling people for turning up to watch boxing. Weird.

I suppose that's like that huge all American unification fight between Bradley and Alexander, right? Neither of those guys earned it? You know, the one that sold 3k tickets? The one that was watched by 1.5 million on tv.

What about the all American superfight between the best SMW and the best LHW that sold 7k tickets?

Low attendance at big fights in America is a real phenomenon. I don't know why you have to act so defensive about it. No one is running down American people. We're just saying it's a shame that it's called the home of boxing yet in reality it gets poor live gates, with no atmosphere and pretty average TV audiences. As boxing fans we'd clearly like to see that change.

I mean, will we ever see scenes like this in US boxing again?

Then what does the 'people would say he doesn't travel' have anything to do with this conversation?

Broner couldn't sell out his mums front room even if she invited the entire family in reference to the late Bill Shankley 'if broner was fighting at the bottom of their garden Americans would shut the curtains'

Spot on. It sounds like an incredibly niche sport over the pond.:-(

So if tv ratings are so low and tickets sales are not setting the world alight then what reason do HBO and Showtime have to pay licensing fees to promoters for their boxing shows?

But yet, he's boasting that Rees may have already secured another bout in the U.S. already. In front of these same "few and dispassionate" audiences.

Why are they even interested then?

    Stay the fu*k over there!

Why are some Americans taking this so personally? Do you disagree with him?

You also seem to be blurring two separate issues.

Firstly, there's the fact he said that the crowds in America a more scarce and less passionate. That's his opinion.

Secondly, he said his fighter might be offered come good fights in America.

What do the two have to do with each other?

Burns is pretty much unheard of here in the UK due to his promoter and tv deal, yet he has a fanbase, whether its large or small, hardcore or mainstream, he will sell accordingly. Broner is not selling to his fanbase or to a mainstream audience despite getting the superstar treatment.

This is not a competition, WE WANT boxing in the USA to be big again. Christ, do you realise we stay up until 5am to watch fights from you're side of the pond. we love boxing regardless of where its hosted. Get a grip son:good

You dont understand America. Just because someone is an American fighter does not mean fans are going to back them like crazy. And why should they? Broner doesnt represent people in New York or Jersey.

You keep proving my point time and time again without even realising it.

I'm sure you're just arguing for the sake of it without really understanding what's being discussed.
