Expecting Hearn or any promoter to come out hard on PEDs and actually mean it is pure fantasy. It's all a dog and pony show. The punter wants to see super men in the ring pulling off out worldly feets. The punter wants to see a superman adonis with KO power who can throw hundreds of punches for 12 rounds. It's in the promoters interests to turn a blind eye when his man is 'roided out of his mind. Nevermind turn a blind eye, usually they'll be provided the best men in the biz to get around the lame drug catching/money laundering orgs. Look back at Big Larry O back in the day. The whole point of his promotion was you were watching some big Ronnie Coleman like colossus knocking over cab drivers. That sells with the average public. Who was his promoter back then, Warren I think? Of course he knew 'he was roided to the gills. Didn't stop him playing the game and being against PED's during the media dog and pony show.
That's true but Hearn had made many statements over the years about what should happen to PED cheats. Things like this is why he gets so much crap for it. Also the pure contempt he has for anybody who doesn't believe any of the crap that comes out of his mouth over the situation.
It's a pity Big Larry O doesn't do more whistle blowing stuff. Former heavyweight boxer Larry Olubamiwo slams 'totally incompetent' UK Anti-Doping agency and claims drug busters workers' 'act like gangsters' https://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/s...otally-incompetent-UK-Anti-Doping-agency.html
I was going to reply with a similar post. It’s not “fantasy” to expect someone like Hearn to make grandiose statements about rooting out PEDs in boxing when he has already done that many times, most notably regarding Canelo. “He will always be seen as a cheater. His reputation is finished”. A couple years later and he’s promoting him and acting like his best pal. Hearn’s problem is that he talks too much, notwithstanding the fact that he is a great orator and persuasive influencer, which means that statements he make almost always come back to bite him on the arse.
I don’t think Jordan came across very well. But it’s hard to dispute what he is saying is fundamentally true. And it was evident to anyone with a brain cell the 5 week delay on not sanctioning was due to them taking legal advice over the threat of litigation from Hearn and Benn (the talk from Hearn of Benn being separate to him is codswallop
