Mc2, you talk so much crap. Your literally saying hearn is a bad promoter because he's secured an EASY world title fight and then a UNIFICATION fight for a fighter who definitely isn't world class. How you can look at that and say that's bad promoting is beyong me. You also state repeatedly that we all knew burns would not beat indongo. Nobody new. Hindsight is a wonderful thing but you can't say it was bad promoting because he lost every round, nobody new that was going to happen. It was a 50/50 fight pre fight.
Ricky was the betting favourite going in to the Indongo fight. If you only had brains to go with your balls you could have made an absolute killing betting Indongo at 6/4. The notion that a 34 year old World Champion should be ducking other Champions in their division just because they may not be stylistically ideal is ludicrous and I am glad Ricky had the stones to behave as a champ should and took the challenge. You come off as very bitter in this thread and the personal attacks on those who dare question your whining are not a good look. Also, Eddie Hearn has been a positive for boxing in the UK and is very successful.
i m saying its irresponsible promoting. People forget but it wasnt long ago the boy gunecht was put in hospital. Boxings a dangerous sport. You ve said yourself ricky burns definetely isnt world class...then why put him in a position to fight world class opposition. I had no idea like a lot of people that indongo would outclass burns...thats true. But its kind of the matchmakers/promoters job to ensure hes not going in their with guys that are too good for him. How many times has he done it now. Its apparent that hearns more interested making himself a quick buck at the expense of looking after his fighter. It cant just be about money in this game. Same for crolla the other week...he was badly outclassed. To the point it did start to look a bit dangerous. In that instance tho at least they secured a bigger name that paid better money i bet. But you can only get away with it so long till someone is hurt in their imo.
im not bitter at all mate I assure you, Eddie does a great job for sky no doubt, but when asking a direct question to myself and me givig him a reply avoid southpaws you'd think he'd take heed, he never know he's been beaten by three of them, that's not good in my eyes
So going by what your saying , Billy just answer me this , at what level does a fighter stop evading fights that are 50-50 , obviously for you its not 1 world title , its not 2 world titles , its not even too unify and grab a 3rd title ,, so when is it .. Because saying avoid him because he's a southpaw , next will be avoid him he hits hard , followed by no he moves his feet too well , till we get to , Fack off were not fighting him , he had a few street fights we did'nt know about . And after thats all established , at what time does a promoter say to said fighter , sorry but i can't afford to pay you that purse , because the public know your a ducker , and won't buy your tickets , but i'll give you a thousand tickets and you can pick who you want and pay them out of the thousand tickets . He got beat fair and square , he's past it , been very lucky Frank managed him and nursed him to a title , and you still seem bitter ,bad mouthing the biggest promotor in the UK is'nt gonna do you future or current boxers any good ,, Perhaps Hearn is the way a promoter should be , he wants competetive fights on his shows and wants to give the public value for money ,
It could be you are just emotional about this as you know Ricky personally and I imagine have a bond formed during your time working together and you care about the guy and want the best for him, that is completely understandable. However if you can look at the situation from a fans perspective, it made sense for this fight to happen - we expect champions to take on the top ranked opponents and especially other title holders regardless of size disparity or stylistic challenges. There were also questions over Indongo's pedigree so while it may not have been the most optimal option for Burns in terms of purse, exposure etc it was still a world title unification match which had he managed to win, would have paved the way for a big money Crawford rematch for undisputed status (this time at least 'Bud' is a high profile name=££££), or if Crawford moves up himself soon perhaps even a more winnable match-up but for similar prestige (if a bit les ££££). You mentioned earlier that Brophy would be eager to re-take the Groves test and you seemed to endorse his ambition/bravery, Ricky facing another highly ranked southpaw is a similarly risky challenge but his is a fighters mentality and he seems to understand that is what champions are made of. As a trainer who can boast World Championships on his C.V. your input is much appreciated, I just feel your views on Ricky's latest fight are clouded by the fact you obviously care more about the man than the boxer, which again is understandable.
The said professional has shown his agendas in the past. The mug punters on here mocked him when he said Frankie Gavin would beat Kell Brook.
Exactly the point I made on page 4 to which he replied: Followed by: Bright spark isn't he. Looks like more trips to Australia for his lucky lads.
Ricky moving up to LWW was the equivalent of the madness when brook moved up and got outclassed and beaten up by GGG. Try not to paint any other picture regarding this pal coz it just won't wash, he was offered a fight he simply shouldn't be in, opponent too big too good Now we wait and see how it has affected his career by going ball deep in with spence, bad bad move. Kell imo should have had a confidence fight then come back. I genuinely hope kell wins you make me out I don't like him, that's not true I just don't have the same very high opinion of him as you.
although I agree ref brook having a confidence builder, spence was his mandatory and he would have lost his belt so kudos to brook for wanting to take on the most dangerous fight on paper in the division and not look to hide behind his defeat to ggg.
