Any event that they know will be a sell out they will buy up as much as possible regardless of it being sport, music, dance or whatever. It really annoys me, I would NEVER buy from a tout even if the money meant nothing to me because I wouldn't want to give them the money. I've sold plenty of tickets for things at face value before when I've had spares but I always made them meet me at the venue outside or come in with me so I know they weren't touts or looking to re-sell them. It's just not on in my eyes and it's been ignored and unpunished for too long.

Yeah, they know there will be a shortfall of tickets nearer the time so they snap them up. Promoter play the game too by bragging a fight sold out in 24 hours, sure it did because they sold 50% of the tickets to touting agencies before they went on general sale.

  3. Can't argue that it would make him look fantastic. However I don't think it's fair to criticise him for not doing it. Would inevitably cost them a fair bit of money to sort out, the obvious first step to solving the problem is for the government to take anyway in my view. Legislate a maximum resale price for all ticket reselling organisations as a percentage of the face value at something like 120%. Easy. According to their own blurb these sites are only for ordinary people to resell tickets for events they can no longer get to anyway, so there's no legitimate reason for not doing this.

  4. You reckon Matchroom were giving them direct to the resale sites Gaz? Absolutely no defence for that, if true.

No idea mate. I'm pretty sure I remember Hatton promotions doing something similar with their allocation of the Mayweather tickets, most of those went straight to touts and only few went on general sale.

Just seems strange how quickly these tickets go and how quickly a promoter can announce a "sell out". Not talking Froch/Kessler/ Hearn specifically, just big British fights in general.

The Fleetwood Mac tickets weren't really sold out in under an hour this year. I've got a few friends who work for ticket agencies and they were only given half the venue allocations to sell. Then they see the tickets have sold out but, magically, a whole bunch of tour operators have package deals to sell.

    Draw your own conclusions.

It's a fairly common business practice, I'm afraid. The only way it stops is if regulated.

  7. I have tickets for Fleetwood Mac, and Froch Kessler. Oh yes. :happy

I dont have a problem with tourist companies getting them to sell as packages-makes good buisness sense and attractive to fans if done at a reasonable rate. Im taking advantage of a similair offer this week and did so when Man Utd played Real madrid earlier this year in Madrid.

Its the guys selling them blatantly over face value with only the ticket to show for it that are the real scammers

    Absolute nonsense.

    Frampton-Quigg
    Bellew-Chilemba
    Rose-Alcine

Now tell me they weren't competitive fights, no matter how boring Rose and Bellew were? He's delivering for the most part competitive cards, which is something he should be praised for, not his fault if the fights turn out to be ****.

But you can criticise him for making a rematch of a painfully dull fight.

Unless he sees it as a way for Bellew to redeem himself? Not a fan friendly fight though, maybe he thinks Bellew owes him to do better?

I don't. Bellew wants a title shot, that's the only way he's getting one right now.

Yeah I get that, so you saying you are only paying for the Froch/Kessler fight? you're paying for all of it.

IMO a re-match that was initially aired as part of normal subscription shouldn't then become part of a PPV event.

That in itslef will not attract mmore fans it will m ore likely put them off..not a good move.

Of course, but that doesn't mean every promoter treats the fighters or the fans the same. Someone like Lou DiBella, who wants to put on good shows and treats the fighters with respect, is not the same as Gary Shaw, who is only in it for himself, puts on poor cards and is such a **** that he tries to steal money from widows. Both DiBella and Shaw are both in it to make money for themselves but if you could put the future of boxing in either of their hands, I'm sure you'd choose that person to be DiBella.

Look at the disgusting way that Frank Maloney treated Darren Sutherland or look at how Hatton has refused to put on shows for fighters like Quigg, so they can stay active and earn some money. Look at Frank's treatment of his fighters in the past year or so. Are they all the same as Hearn, just because they're all promoters who are trying to earn a good living? Of course not.

Every promoter is concerned with making money but I don't think every promoter is as Machiavellian, greedy, self serving and amoral as each other. There's a reason why promoters like Don King have become entirely irrelevant and distanced themselves from the boxing community. Why is he irrelevant but the Duva's aren't? Because he selfishly trampled over anyone in his way to look out for himself, unlike promoters who are still successful. He's been alienated because of the way he's treated his fighters and the Duva's haven't because they aren't morally the same.

Saying "all promoters are the same" would be like saying "all fighters are the same" because they all want to win just like promoters want to make money. It's simply not true.
