Lost to KnockOut Promotions for Babic vs Lukasz Rozanski. Will Whyte and Babic be fighting on Sky soon instead of DAZN. I dont think either are in contract with Matchroom and i dont know if Wardley is either, I can see Whyte moving himself and his stable over to Sky as soon as he is able to. Has Eddie actually ever won a purse bid for a 'World Title' fight?
To be fair I’d rather lose the purse bid for that fight than win it for almost half a million dollars!
If i was Hearn i wouldnt be too bothered about this he lost a purse bid for someone who doesnt have a big following, in a made up weight division. Id be more concerned that his fighters are risking salmonella by eating 900 eggs a day
That's a hell of a lot of money for a nothing fight. Babic is an interesting undercard novelty but no more than that.
We completely agree. Babic is worth nothing and he will never be a household name so I understand why Eddie Hearn / Matchroom will not invest a lot of money in him. On the other hand, they send the wrong signal to the outside world. As someone else writes: When did Matchroom last win a purse bid ?
From what I heard, it was won by a Polish promotion team, where it'll be much easier to sell this fight anyway. No big loss to Matchroom. On a sidenote, I just checked Rozanski's Boxrec and he last fought May 2021, beating Szpilka. Why has he been so inactive?
