    Not heard this story before.

1974, New York, Eddie meets Cyclone Hart, and there is a story that Eddie knocked Hart out early with a single punch ruled after the bell - so they let Hart recover and in the fourth he got knocked out again.

Eddie naturally said that the punch wasn't late, that the punch was fair.

    Anyone know any details here?

Never heard that one before but that's a great story, true or not.

Assuming you've seen it, would you agree the punch was fair, or not?

I think I've heard Eddie himself say that he did, although I could be misremembering. It definitely seems familiar though.

The bell was very very hard to hear but the last two or three punches were definitely late. That being said, it looked like Hart was kind of trying to milk the DQ. The late punches didnt land that clean (Hart had been caught and rocked a little bit not long before the bell) and Hart went down kind of delayed. The referee is also partly to blame because the 10 second warning had taken place and the lights on the ring posts had come on but he was standing too far back to halt the action when the bell rang and then he didnt hear it apparently so it took him a couple of seconds to jump in. Giving Hart time to recover was the right call in my opinion and didnt alter the fight one way or the other.
