I'm making this a 12 rounder. 175 Ib. Now we know this is Eddie's proven division. We also know James proved he could be great from middle on up but his resume at 175 isn't comparable to Eddie's. But this is based on them at there best coming in at 175. Just humor me here without picking this apart with the weights and resumes like I already went over. Two what I consider master boxers at there best here. Who and why?
I'm not looking at who was the better light heavy I tried to explain in my post maybe I couldn't convey my point.
The bell rings for round one. Neither guy shows much foot movement. They box in ring center, each using feints and a tight guard. Each tries to time the right hand. Each is a true counter puncher and neither wants to lead. Mustafa Muhammad has trouble landing to the head, so switches to the body. Toney tries to sucker Eddie by fighting off the ropes. Eddie will have none of it and waves him back to ring center. It is a tedious contest. The vast majority of head shots by either guy hit gloves or miss. Eddie's jab does find some success but he lands little off of it Toney tries to counter with is right hand but Eddie moves his head out of the way time and again. In the late rounds, Eddie is slightly busier. Toney, as usual, is too picky and his punch output goes down as the rounds mount. Both guys go all out in the last round but neither is hurt and there is not much between them. Eddie wins a UD by 1, 2, and 1 point.
The winner by split decision, Eddie Mustafa Muhammed. At his best he'd give anyone a tussle at Lt Hvy
