Sorry to say I haven’t watched him but have only heard good things about him. Will watch the three fights you’ve linked to, Flo. Thanks!
No problem! I think you'll be pleased on what you see. Hopefully more footage of Perkins will surface at some point.
Does that include his losses to Locche, Napoles, and Loi? Those fights took place in their hometown. Would like to know if there's any articles regarding those fights.
Based on the scores, it was either some seriously biased officiating or Napoles plain schooled him. As Perkins seems like a classy operator, that win (and the margin of victory) by Napoles looks all the more impressive.
Perkins seemed classy and I remember an interview wher Perkins basically said he beat Napoles but did not get the decision and it kind of makes sense because he never got a shot a Napoles when Napoles held the title. By all accounts from what I read Perkins was very reserved person who really never complanied too mch. I will try to find the interview.
It is on the cyberboxing zone which you can still read it. And Napoles ducked Perkins as they offered $70,000 dollars tax free to meet Perkins in Chicago and Napoles management rejected the offer which was alot of money back then.
Good article. Well, it seems clear that Perkins believed he got jobbed against Napoles. According to Boxrec, the two judges and the ref had the exact same score: 7-0 to Napoles. So, either Perkins got royally jobbed or he had a distorted perspective on it. Unless footage turns up of it, which seems highly unlikely, I’ll keep my mind open about it.
It kind of makes sense due to that Perkins was a leading contender at welterweight and if Napoles dominated him like the scores indicate then why would he decline the offer to face Perkins again?
Flo, the Perkins-Rosi fight intrigues me. But it appears to be a little light in time at 29 minutes. What are we talking about that's missing? 1 round or 2 rounds?
Yeah, there’s a logic but who really knows… all fighters think they did better than the scorecards say when they lose. Not saying that’s the case here, but I also wouldn’t be surprised if Napoles beat him fair and square.
It’s a 10 round fight in a 29 minute video so it seems to be missing at least 1 round. Really liking Perkins’ performance in that one, great movement and a skillful fighter.
