An upper tier jouneyman (25-4 with 17 ko's) who only lost
to Tate, Cooney, Tucker & Monroe.

Based out of Los Angeles, and brought some thrills to the fights, and the TV announcers liked him.....gave it his all as I remember.

Badass to say the least. Definately as you, an uppertier journeyman. I've seen some clips of the animal.

He was kinda like a 210 lb Tony Ayala who just liked to fight, whether on the parking lot or in the ring.

Somebody not to run into after the bars closed.

Yep, He was dangerous on the street probably even more so than in the ring. I have always loved that name, Eddie " the animal " Lopez. Kinda goes right up there with Jake " the snake" Roberts.

My understanding is that he could've beaten Leon Spinks, that would've been interesting happening.

A true tough guy was Lopez. Not very talented, but didn't need to be. I think he just one mean SOB.

Wonder what he is doing? Even if he is alive. I'll google him.

Eddie "The Animal" Lopez with the late Norm Lockwood (L) and John Liechty in the Olympic Auditorium dressing rooms area after his fight with John Tate. Eddie was the 1970s version of today's Chris Arreola.

Norm Lockwood was the Olympic's glove-man for over 30 years...John Liechty a 1976 Los Angeles Golden Gloves champion is today a timekeeper.

I call the dressing rooms at the Olympic 'The Catacombs"
