Eddie "The Animal" Lopez vs Manuel Ramos Fringe heavyweight contenders with decent power. Lopez beat Leon Spinks, and Ramos lost to Joe Frazier in a 2-round shootout. Proposed fight at the LA Olympic.....with cervezas being consumed and hot senoritas w/ ta-tas exposed.... flitting all around.
I'd go with Lopez. While neither man ever truly beat a high quality fighter, Eddie was at least durable and didn't lose to mediocrities. Ramos got beat by fighters of all levels.
Frazier said that the right hand that Ramos hit him with in the 1st round of their 2 round blow-out was the hardest punch he was ever hit with (at that time)...which of course was a crock of ****, since I recall Oscar Bonavena bouncing him off the canvas twice. A case of "the guy who couldn't deck me hit harder than the guy who floored me" syndrome that fighters often suffer from. I think Lopez would pressure Ramos relentlessly until the ref stops it in 8...."The Animal" was made of sterner stuff that Ramos...far too rugged, I believe.
