Exactly. This is Hearn playing the game and being smart.

Also not sure how he's 'trying' to stay relevant, he's probably the most relevant promoter in the game right now

I’d give up the belt over giving Whyte a 45% split. He has done nothing to deserve it.

If Hearn pushes this too far I see Joyce getting the fight. And that wouldn’t be much of a fight given how static Joyce is.

I do want the Whyte fight to happen as I see it being an entertaining one but if Whyte wants to legitimately beat the champ then he needs to take a flat fee and fight on ESPN because Fury isn’t fighting on DAZN

Let’s say he gives up the belt and down the road Usyk beats Whyte to be undisputed, does Fury keep his Ring belt and will he still be considered “lineal”?

I think he would still be the ring champ. No 2 bearing No 4 isn’t overly relevant for that you wouldn’t think.

Whyte deserves a good pay as it will make good money but not 45%

    Interesting.
Fury in total makes £20m plus a fight these days. Whyte a couple of million. I can see this fight not happening as a result. £5m or so for Whyte would be fair imo. Would like to see the fight as I like Fury and knew he would beat Whyte easy.

Fury will never give Whyte 45% & Arum/Warren and probably Fury himself would never allow it to happen on DAZN.

Eddie needs to shut his mouth and work behind the scenes if he wants to be involved in this process.

Clearly, Fast Car still hasn’t learned his lesson from being humiliated by the Fury-AJ circus.

Hearn’s talk of pushing for purse bids when Fury is currently taking some family time and hasn’t even told his promoters he wants the Whyte fight, is going to cause unnecessary friction.

As others have said, knowing Fury he is probably more likely to “retire” or ask to be made Emeritus Champ rather than fight Whyte if he’s pissed.

Arum & Warren know this and will be working on making him feel comfortable with the situation.

For married guys, it’s a bit like our Missus’ stroking our ego’s and manipulating us into making decisions that they want, whilst still making us feel like were in control.

I accept Eddie is probably the biggest promoter in the game right now but in terms of the heavyweight champions he is far from in control.

This is why the Hearns are talking up the purse bid IMHO, and keeping the idea of the fight in the public sphere. They know exactly what they are doing.

Keeping the pressure on the WBC to formally order it at their upcoming congress. Once it's ordered, Whyte has a very strong position.

Anything agreed before purse bid will have to be an outrageous offer, regardless of promoter - Whyte would not agree to less than 45%, knowing that he'd get it in a purse bid and surely knowing what Matchroom will be offering in that purse bid.

If it goes to purse bid, there will be a lot of interested parties. Matchroom, Top Rank, Queensberry, and probably a few leftfield offers too (Triller? Saudi? Macau?). Whyte gets 45% of it.

And if Fury decides to vacate, the dream of undisputed goes away, possibly forever given his age. Then Whyte gets to fight a much less difficult contender for the vacant belt. Current WBC top three are Wilder, Ruiz and Joyce.

If fight doesn’t happen because Whyte wants 45% it’s a duck by him

This is where the deal gets done. Dillian knows the fight will go if he demands 45%.

Whyte will not demand 45% but will demand more than £5m. By taking the stance of let’s go to purse bids it sets a good negotiation starting point. This is more than common in boxing.

you will find Whyte will accept £8/9m plus upside on PPV etc. If they offer £5m then he will drag it to pursebids which puts fury in a corner
