I thought this, it's a tactic King used to use to protect his cash cows. But who knows Hearns' exact motive for this, he may have simply seen an opportunity.

It's not like Ortiz's career was exactly progressing as it should. He had just sabotaged his chances at a WBA mandatory shot by withdrawing from the Ustinov fight. So it's not like a fight with Ortiz was likely to happen any time soon. If Joshua had beats Wlad for the WBA super belt he'd have some time while the WBA sorts out the mess on who is going to be the regular champion and Joshua's mandatory.

Maybe he plans on pitting Ortiz against Wilder or Povetkin. He's fighting Scott next who is only ranked in the top 10 by the WBC, so a win there sees him ranked in the WBC top ten. There's money to be made if he can grab the WBC silver belt by facing the winner of Povetkin/Stiverne or going for Wilder. Then of course if there is a big unification clash between Joshua and Ortiz with Ortiz as WBC champion, then Hearn has all his bases covered and ends up with a unified champion either way.

I don't see how, Ortiz could have been avoided anyway. Joshua will have to fight his mandatory Parker after his next fight, after which he'll have 1/2 voluntaries then his next mandatory might be Pulev (who may or may not want any). By this point Ortiz will probably be pushing 39.

Ortiz wasn't ranked by the IBF so Hearn wouldn't of had to face him unless it was a voluntary fight and nobody expected him to make Ortiz a voluntary option for Joshua. He was safe from King Kong as it was.

Now that he is with Matchroom , the fight should be easy to make so he doesn't have any excuse not to match them up. And i can't see him doing that. People are going to be clamouring for that fight soon and demanding it . What is the agenda here?
I can't figure what his intentions are .

Well, Hearn tried to make fights with Pulev, Parker and Stiverne and wants to put him in there with Wlad(only if one of the WBA&WBO titles is on the line along with AJ's IBF strap, but still) so I'd say he's pretty confident with him. When/if Ortiz wins a legitimate world title, we'll see him against Joshua.

I think it has something to do with getting the WBA on board for the Wlad fight.

I can see Ortiz v Whyte or Del boy in the near future.

It's going to be interesting on where Hearn goes with Ortiz.

It's good news for Ortiz either way. I hate to see a perfectly good HW going to waste.

No. Eddie has already got him to ditch his interim title which prevented him from fighting Joshua.

Hearn will use Ortiz to chase down the other belts, then when he starts to slide, put him in with AJ to unify. Thats my prediction.

No he didn't, and we wont see King Kong vs Joshua for a long time not till there are signs of a decline by Ortiz and he holds a belt. He will be on all Joshua undercards though. We may see Kong vs Haye though.

No he signed him because he thinks he can make money from him.

If Joshua v Ortiz makes sense financially he will make the fight. Hearn wont leave money on the table when he has two fighters under his stable in a fight which should be easy to make.
