Imo both are overrated trainers. All they have is one specific elite fighter/ATG. But they don't seem to do good for anyone else.

Ward is not elite, he was just good. He is an elite ball sack puncher though. Virgil Hunter aint got **** on Tunde

His lhw and smw resumes aren't better than Canelo's never mind overall.

Hard disagree. Canelo is greater overall but SMW goes to ward and LHW is debatable due to Wards controversial Kovalev fight. But anyone with a brain knows Ward would dominate and KO the washed up version of Kovalev that Canelo fought. Wouldn't lose a round. Wouldn't even have to fight dirty

Also H2H Canelo has no chance against Ward.

As a matter of fact Ward could come out of retirement now and give Canelo fits

He was losing rematch to an alcoholic Kovalev til he low blowed him and lost first one then retired to duck Beterbiev and Bivol etc. Canelo won all 4 SMW titles, against weak champions yes but still won them. It's not like Ward was a long reigning SMW champ who beat all comers he won S6 every fight on home turf fouling his way to victory.

One of the most overrated fighters in modern history imo.

I'd lean towards an Alvarez win too fight would be close but he'd get the home town biased decision and Ward wouldn't get away with all his cheating.

Beating a champion ≠ good win. Carl Frotch, Mikkel Kessler, and Chad Dawson are in a different league to Caleb Plant, Callum Smith, and Billy Joe Saunders. Thats not even including the mid tier wins on Wards record. He practically cleaned out 168.

Kovalev was in an even worse state against Canelo than he was against Ward and was performing a shut out until the KO in round 11. It's not like Kovalev was on the wrong side of 30 and KO'd by Eleider Alverez in the run up to the Ward fight now was he.

Ward has the superior resume at 168 and even if he didn't he beats him in a H2H fight. Canelo is like tailor made for Ward

I agree but they still created elite fighters from nothing, which is very respectable. Unlike these other bozo trainers that get guys that already know how to box and have 100's of amatuer fights

Ward would absolutely dominate Canelo and even Canelo knows this.

Chad Dawson who hadn't fought at SMW for years and was a skeleton in the fight due to making weight no way would he have beaten BJS or even Plant in that condition. Kessler and Froch were a level above those but Calzaghe beat Kessler first and a few deserved to beat Froch in S6 Dirrell and Johnson did in my opinion.

The Golovkin win controversial as it may be still ranks above Froch.

He hasn't got power to hurt Canelo, he couldn't get off multiple shots not his style, wouldn't get away with his hugging and cheating he's not dominating anyone in that fight.

This fight is an easy call.

Power is irrelevant in this matchup, and has never been a component necessary to beat Canelo, and has never been a component necessary for Ward victory... so that's an odd point to make.

Mayweather, Lara, Trout and Bivol all lack the power to truly hurt Canelo.

Ward also doesn't need combinations to beat Canelo.

He would beat Canelo on size and IQ (positioning and dictating the action).

    Obvious pick imo.

Picking Ward over Canelo here is as easy as picking Bivol over him, just for different reasons.
