So then, generally speaking, boxers from 50-60 years ago were just as technically apt as the ones today?

It depends on what you mean. If you mean i've heard people say that boxing technique has evolved between 1890 and 1940, i'd say i've probably heard that, yeah. If you're trying to say that boxing technique has evolved as such in the last fifty years - so since 1970 - I haven't read that here, no. Given that Jofre retired in 1976, it seems most likely that you are talking about the last fifty years. That prescribed my response. So I'd argue that you're making it that hard. What is it you're trying to say?
50-60 years ago. And if thats the case then we've had some differing experiences. Unless the prolific modernistas here agree that it hasn't. If they're willing to contend that boxing technique hasn't evolved over the last 5-6 decades, I'll gladly admit I used a strawman. It's right there, in plain English. It's not hard.
You've altered your argument here, to sixty years. I'll go with your original 50. Can you link me to any meaningful threads or posts by established members which state how boxing technique has changed since 1970? I'll also accept 1969.
Who is arguing that boxing has evolved, skillwise, in the past 50 years? Seriously. One might argue that the level of athleticism, especially at heavyweight, has increased... Even at that, guys like Ali and Foreman, who were both active 50 years ago, would do just fine today.

You don't have to be "textbook" to be an ATG. In fact, it is more the norm to not be. He is very fluid, efficient and balanced, even at this age. It's a skillset, that mixed with innate athleticism and fighting spirit, worked then and would work today.
