Edgar beat Aldo on my card

I gave rounds one and two to Aldo. They were clear Aldo Rounds. I thought round three was closer. Aldo did more in the first half of the round, Edgar did some things in the last half. I favored Aldo because I thought he was the harder striker. I thought round four was a clear Edgar round. Round five was close also, but again I favored Aldo's heavier strikes. I thought the right man got the decision. I wouldn't of had an issue with a draw, or a 3-2 score for Edgar. Aldo's cardio sucks. It makes fights more competitive than they would be if he had a five round gas tank. With a five round tank of gas, the fight would have looked like the first two rounds, in all five rounds, and Edgar may not have made it to the final bell.

 

Just because Aldo does better in the 3rd than the first two rounds doesn't mean he wins the round. He did better for sure, but that's because Aldo was outclassing him early.

 

Edgar definetly was the more effective aggessor rounds 3-5.

Aldo gassed because edgar was so aggressive and started landing a lot of strikes, wearing him out. A lot of you have never been in match. I think people are dissmissing the fact that edgar was ineeed doing damage to aldo, (slowing his body down) and squirt in their minds everytime aldo lands because it looks pretty and he does kick very hard indeed.

3-2 Edgar robbed again.

 

Aldo clearly won the first two rounds, the third was close, and virtually everybody scores the fight 3-2 one way or the other. Those who don't score it 3-2 score it 4-1 for Aldo. How the **** is that a robbery? :bart

Lewis-Holy 1 was a robbery. Not every fight whose scorecard you disagree with is a robbery. And especially not when your guy clearly lost 2 rounds out of 5 and never wobbled the champion or landed any memorable strikes or attempted any submissions or controlled him on the ground at any point. :nono

Just want to say that anyone scored the fight for Aldo by a round have no problem but the judges Ringside gave 4 rounds to Aldo dont know how the **** that happened.

 

It just means that some judges aren't giving people rounds for scoring takedowns and doing nothing with it.

whoever thinks edgar won is out of their mind, one or two takedowns that result in nothing and the opponent getting up straight away mean nothing, as does his feather fisted hands aldo didnt care for edgar touching him his power is non existant, this is mma not amateur boxing

 

I thought Aldo won, but disagree with this. I think Edgar looked like he had some pop in his punch this fight. Edgar was facing much larger men a lightweight, began his career against experienced guys, and is wrestler that learned to strike when preparing for mma. I think his punches are getting heavier as he is gaining experience.

If he keeps fighting at 145, I expect him to score some jaw dropping knock outs.

 

Nothing is worse than when a round is coming to a close and Goldie says "We have to remember the takedown scored by so and so probably wins the round"

i respectfully disagree, aldo's face afterwards shows how he lacks power not only that but edgars technique is his biggest downfall for his punch power
-very little movement from the legs when he punches
-his hip pops and turns are short in movement
-does not plant his feet as he is bouncing in and out using speed
-he releases his hands too quick which means his shoulders do not get incorporated into the punch enough, watch his straight right for example his punch finishes and his shoulder is still too far back losing out on power

 

I'm not disagreeing with any of that. I think Edgar is extremely powerful for his size, and has decent pop to his punch in spite of his technique. I don't think he'll ever become a consistent one punch knock out artist. I think he will dish out some beat downs against the cage, or some violent ground and pound.

 

Edgar walked into too many jabs. It made the fight look one sided. Aldo won.

 

2 rounds is the best I can give Edgar. To give him the 3rd and 5th is being very generous.

 

For one reason or another, judging hugely differs, even in rounds where the overwhelming majority can agree on the victor. The 49-46 card tells us all we need to know. It was sad because as soon as that card was read you know who the winner is and the suspense of a close fight has been killed and disrespected.

I felt Frankie took 3, 4 and 5 but I would cry robbery tongue in cheek because Frankies missed out on another close fight.

I think the reality is that Frankie is a points scorer and is simply not viewed as a hurt fighter. Because of this he struggles to win close rounds which the judge seems to give to the other guy based on what may appear a more defining strike or two.

Tough times for Frankie but I think he has to review his game. Despite the energy, mobility and striking seeming enough to many, he now has to introduce some moves that appear to carry some hurt - some big take downs, the odd overhand right etc Moves/moments that can define a round as using the fundamental strikes don't seem to appear violent enough and have lost him another big fight.

The first two rounds looked worrying, Aldo had some sick timing and you felt it was going to get real painful real quick for Frankie BUT the energy, mobility and workrate come into play and suddenly its a controversial result. You've got to love Fe though.
