Obscure fighter, but bear with me. Here's his fight with Galaxy. http://youtube.com/watch?v=hYIF0lxxa7U&feature=related Almost looks like he's trying to emulate Hearn's. Very, very tall for his division. Measures his man with a long, probing jab and then fires a straight left. Same whipping bodywork. Obviously he wasn't a tenth the fighter Hearns was but I found it slightly interesting. Anyway, Omar seemed like a fighter who had zero problem going to others backyards and consequently getting screwed in South America via draws and SD's. He actually ended his failing career with a win over a 13-0 prospect in the guys backyard until the fight was turned into a NC because Monserrat was "doping". I've never heard of flyweights/super flyweights doping before, but hey. So who's watching the fight?
Oh, another interesting note... The fight that turned into a NC was against Pedro Alcazar who died in 2002 after losing a fight via TKO that resulted in a brain injury.
Sadly I'm still interested in this guy. Or became interested in again, what with things being circular.
From the little i've seen of him he was a nondescript, marginally talented fighter in the awkward panamanian style.Best night was probably giving Roman a serviceable fight, but more because of the styles and his physical advantages than any real talent on display.
Do you have any idea how tall he was? Man seemed right up there with top shelf fighters of his weight class height wise.
