I have to admit that Edison Miranda looked spectacular against his last opponent, but who was his last opponent?

Banks is a guy that has no punch, no height, and holds his left hand down low like he's PBF.

I admit that Banks used the right strategy against Miranda in circling away from his right hand, but I guess he was never taught that if you're going to do this, and especially if your opponent has a height and reach advantage over you and you're not especially fast, it is VITAL TO KEEP YOUR LEFT HAND HELD HIGH!

So yeah, it was inevitable that Miranda was going to eventually land that big right hand of his, especially considering that Banks didn't have the ring experience or intelligence to use proper fundamentals against that type of fighter, IE holding his left hand high, or move quickly out of the way when he's against the ropes.

So while that knockout made for a great highlight reel, in reality, in Miranda's pursuit for the title against better fighters, it didn't mean much.

Miranda lacks speed, doesn't have the greatest footwork, and his left hand is practically useless.

His jab is mediocre, his headmovement is practically non-existant, (he looked like the easiest guy to hit in the world when he fought Pavlik), and does the guy even have a left hook?

Yet, some people on here think this guy is on a different level in the supermiddleweight division, and the only reason he lost to Pavlik is because he was weight drained.

No, he lost to Pavlik because he relies on his will to win and his POWERFUL right hand, yet is severley limited after that.

If you neutralize his right hand by boxing him and circling away from it, he has practically nothing in his arsenal to hurt you.

So a guy like Pascal, if he had any boxing intelligence, heart, and a chin, SHOULD be able to beat Miranda via a decision, but the jury is still out on him.

Pascal isn't what I consider to be a champion level fighter in that division though. If Kessler or Calzaghe were to fight Miranda, they would make Miranda look like an amateur.

Don't get me wrong, Power can carry a fighter a long way, but once a fighter gets to the upper echelon, the fighter needs to have more in his arsenal than a one handed attack.

*Pavlik is somewhat reliant too much on his power too, but when I watch his fights, he mixes up his shots better than Miranda does, IE he goes to the body and the head, and he has power in both hands. This is what seperates Pavlik from Miranda and why Pavlik has the ability to succeed in the upper divisions and from what I see right NOW at least, Miranda DOES NOT.

No left hook? For one, watch the Eastman fight. I think it was Round 3 Miranda almost knock him down with the left hook. And THAT was the first time Eastman was ever wobbled!

    Eastman is/was done.

The guy had lead in his feet. Miranda needs 10 seconds to set his feet to deliver a left hook.

I like him because he is an entertaining fighter who never backs down from a challenge and lets it all out even in his losses.

It is funny how just before he fought Miranda, Eastman went toe to toe with Abraham and many thought Eastman could have gotten the decision. And a few months later he was 'done'? :patsch

That's just it though. Eastman goes toe to toe with fighters, and if you're fighting a guy like Miranda who has a lot of power, you're unable to back him up, and you stand in one position like a statue, of course he's going to be able to land a hard left hook.

But where was his left hook against Banks who was there to be hit with it?

Against a guy with any movement at all or a guy that can punish Miranda more than Miranda can punish him, IE Pavlik, Miranda has no left hook.

    He's a one handed fighter.

Against Pavlik, yes, Miranda looked like a fool relying totally on trying to setup the right hand. It was his worse moment. Yes, a lot due to how well Kelly fought, but also since Edison was not able to hurt him. I think that was the moment Edison said, 160lbs is not gonna work anymore.

Maybe, but I feel like it was Miranda's refusal or inability to throw straight punches and circle out of the way.

Pavlik was right. Miranda doesn't know how to fight backing up.

So, you can use the weight-drain excuse, but if you're going to do that, what is your excuse for Miranda's mental incapacity to do the things he should have been doing when he obviously didn't?

Maybe Miranda's balls are too big for his own good.

Either way, I don't think his weight had anything to do with the style that he chose to fight because if he really did feel weight drained, he would as most great fighters do, adapt, and fight in a way to neutralize this weakness.

Personally, I think Miranda's just not as good as he advertises himself to be.

He may beat Pascal, but Pascal didn't look very good in his last fight.

  14. Miranda can't fight backing up, has no ****ing jab, no ring generaliship, lousy stamina, he was out of gas against Pavlik in the 5th round, and that weight drained excuse is as hollow as hell, it's his own damn fault if he can't work off the weight and put down the damn fork:deal
He's over-rated as hell and the next time he jumps into the ring with a World class Pavil type fighter he will get knocked on his ass again..
He talks to much **** for his own good..:-(
