Ward has good hand speed and is pretty accurate, but his chin is shaky -- I'd give him the benefit of doubt and say that he wins by stoppage ... later on in the fight is going to show what Ward is made of.

Miranda has the chance to get a win over Ward, but I doubt if Ward leaves himself open against this guy.

Ward has been knocked down before --

Miranda has been knocked out before --

should make for an interesting fight, I can't wait to see the results.

    How'd you guess?!?!?
No, it is not signed, but only the smaller issues need to be worked out from what I hear. It appears to be as good as a go as can be. Showtime has it on there schedule now too, and the networks are careful about posting a fight that may not happen.

Great fight for both fighters. We will learn if Ward is possibly the next guy to look out for or if Miranda is a top guy but just can't beat the very best. Regardless the winner should be awarded a title fight before the end of the year.

Miranda by KO earlier than people think. If this goes past 8 rounds I am gonna be worried!

I don't think Miranda will land clean on Ward all night. Ward by UD

Can't get that image out of my head of Miranda getting smashed into the corner canvas by Pavlik's over hand right.

    Ward all the way!

I don't know Ward, but Miranda's only losses have come to big punchers. A local fighter, Billy Lyell who is fighting John Duddy next, just said in an interview that Kelly Pavlik nails him harder in sparring sessions with 16 oz gloves than James Kirkland ever hit him in their fight. Sounds like Ward doesn't have that much power from what I'm reading here. Miranda is used to eating shots to get his in and if Ward doesn't have enough power to bother him, it will be a long night for Ward.

Ward by decision. Ward's not a big puncher at all (most of his stoppages have been of the mercy stoppage variety), and he has a sketchy chin himself, but he might be the best pure boxer Miranda has ever faced, and he fights smart. Miranda doesn't throw enough punches to beat Ward, and he'll have a hard time actually getting to Ward. Should be a fairly dominant decision win for Ward, but if Miranda tags him, he could be in big trouble.

I admit I'm biased because I'm from Oakland and Ward is the local fighter out here. I was thinking more of the psychological damage that may have occured from that loss to Pavlik but you make good technical points that I agree with :good

I'm still betting on Ward by UD :hat

If Ward lands punches like Oscar landed on Vargas I could see a similar ending. I like Ward in this matchup, but as always, Miranda has that deciding punching power. Should be a fun fight to watch.

miranda is a strong, strong puncher - but only if you let him punch.

this fight is all about if ward is skillfull enogh to negate what miranda offers.
