There are questions about Ward's chin, but other than that he's the complete package. He should take over the SMW division.
Ward can use the stick and move tactic and win a wide decision but that would be boring.. BUt most likely that's what he's going to do... A while back, i forgot who he's opponent was, but he got caught by an average puncher while showboating, and looked really hurt for a sec.. With that in mind, I don't think his chin is great but we'll see.. If he gets past by miranda convincingly, then he's the real deal.
pantera is one of my favorites, but Ward is gonna be on his bicycle the entire fight and get a snooze UD.
Miranda KO 7. Prolly while behind on the cards, then BOOM!! Like Ward though, wish him well, but I say Miranda takes him out.
P2K....How is Miranda doing makin' 168 these days?? He was a MONSTER of a MW, and is still looks like a Cruiser when you see him. Any chance he might go for LHW sometime?
He has been very disipline since his loss to Abraham. He realized that going 'home' to Colombia was hurting him. He gets lazy there, eats a lot, blows up and never trains. In Puerto Rico he is a gym rat. He made a statement not long ago that said he will stay out of Colombia until he becomes a world champ and defend the title many times. I heard he was back at the gym 2 days after returning from London to stay in shape and keep his weight down. His norm after each fight was going back to Colombia and disappear for weeks. Making 168lbs shouldnt be a problem. That is where the bigger fights are and I think that is where he should be fighting. We will see. He needs to be 100% when he gets in the ring with Ward.
Very good to hear really. I'm glad his commitment level is up and not down. He is a true fighter in every sense of the word. Contrast this with Paul Malignaggi's "I'm just fighting for the money now cuz it pays more than anything else I can do....."
I'm a huge Andre Ward fan. This is a big step up for him and can really define his young career. A victory over a guy like Miranda springboards him to bigger and better things. It's a dangerous fight, if only because of Miranda's punching power and newfound dedication, but Ward is twice the boxer Miranda is. I think he wins easily.
What strikes me is that directly after the 2nd Abraham fight he sayed that 166 was to much weight for him and that he want´s to go down in weight. Was that just a translation error or has he just changed his mind? :think
I'd love for Miranda to take this fight, but I this is just a fight where they are hoping to get Andre Ward a name on his resume against a winnable opponent. I'm rooting for Miranda, I just don't know if he should take the fight this early.
Im not sure where you heard that, but if it was said or written somewhere it was no doubt wrong information. Miranda was complaining about 160lbs for a long time. He was killing himself to make that weight. He had is eye on Jermain Taylor. After Pavlik loss he made it clear he would never fight at 160lbs again. 168lbs is not going to be easy for him either. He knows this and that is why he is keeping his weight down in between fight so he doesnt have to spend all of his camp losing weight (like Abraham II). As long as he does this, I think the weight wont be an issue. If there was opportunites at 175lbs he could easily fight there as well. But the 160lbs days are over!
