Bute's matchmaker Don Majeski, who failed to lure WBA and WBO champions Dimitri Sartison and Robert Stieglitz into the ring, said: “Magee's a live fighter. He wasn't picked because there are 10 better. He wasn't picked because he's the easiest. He's the best available who doesn't hold a belt.”

"Magee, 35, is ranked number eight by the IBF and took the fight after Dimitri Sartison rejected an offer by Interbox."

" Bute could have met the German Dimitri Sartison, WBA world champion, but the German fighter refused and then Magee accepted the offer made"

Search it on the google it's on all the sites with boxing news

Pascal did never offer a catchweight fight to Bute . Dawson had when the fight against Pascal was signed. He said he might fight Bute after he beats Pascal at the catchweight of 172 lbs... even if a rematch clause was stipulated in the contract he said he will beat Pascal so bad that he will not want to use that clause.
    Again you know nothing

Bute's fights on Showtime... comming from your inteligent mind.
You must be really dumb to think Showtime will pay 2 mill/fight for these ones.
Showtime accepted Magee because there weren't other options, as soon as other good fighters will be availeble Bute will fight them.

The way I read the Interfax note (and I admit my french is rusty) is that it was money that separated.

A catchweight was discussed in the media, but the fight was quickly put to rest by Bute's handlers. And then they went for Danny Green. :rofl

Even if it was true... was it Bute's fault because Sartison was pricing himself out ?

Dawson said some years back he can still make 168. He never offered Bute a fight at 168 The quotes of him was about 172 :
"I'm very comfortable @ 172 lbs to fight Lucian Bute" why whould he said that if he wanted a fight at 168.
Dawson will not fight Bute now because he has a rematch clause on Pascal.
You don't know that either. You actually know nothing but talk talk talk.

Wauw! Now that would be a nice series. Not realistic at all though.

Kessler is still having eyetrouble and is to test the eyes sparring in 3 months. If everything goes OK, the plan according to promotor Sauerland is to have a tune-up before fighting the s6 winner. Now even if he takes on Bute instead of the s6 winner we are looking at September 2011.

So I reckon it's Kessler against the s6 winner in September and it's highly unlikely that Bute gets Kessler at no.2 fight.

Have another go and remember there's a mando waiting for him.

You didn't knew either knew that Bute's camp have said that they will not fight Mendy. At least not until Mendy fights another eliminator.

"On paper it has won, but technically, this guy just got the knockout in the first round," said Larouche. "It certainly has not proven he deserves to be in the same ring as Lucian. "

Who knows? It's likely that they offered a lowball sum for Sartison and the same for Magee. Sartison's camp tried to negotiate but Magee accepted the offer straight away.

So Bute gets the easier fight with Magee and the canadian public doesn't really care which is what matters to the moneymakers at Interbox. The hardcore fans are the ones who suffer, but they'll watch the fight anyway.

Does it matter what Bute's camp says? If the IBF threatens to strip him he'll fight their appointed mando. Bute is not interesting if he doesn't carry the belt. Sad but true.

So do you have another suggestion for the 3 fights for Showtime, or will you stick with your initial and highly unrealistic picks?
