Round 1

Matthysse is gliding her jab over the cornrows of the former champion, then playing whack-a-mole pressuring with combos alternating descending pounding motions with either fist. Mrdjenovich is defending, stepping in and out with her guard up, not really opening up yet, just pushing a border-securing jab that rarely makes actual contact except with Matthysse's hair.

Round 2

Mrdjenovich is coming forward more now, shooting her jab over Matthysse's head and then hooking off it, brushing the champion's ear. Matthysse is forced to cede ground to her larger opponent, uncomfortable with being crowded and not having space to get off.

Round 3

WILD, sloppy round. Lots of entanglements and incidental fouls. At one point Mrdjenovich shrieks at the ref while Matthysse is simultaneously pinning her arm, grinding her elbow into Mrdjenovich's midriff, and butting her braids upward into Mrdjenovich's eyes. The ref looks as though he just shat his pants...hell hath no fury.

10-9 Matthysse - very little clean action, the better part of 2 minutes there spent in the clinch, but the roughness favored Matthysse as Mrdjenovich did NOT like it one bit..

Round 4

The antics continue. Mrdjenovich is clamping Matthysse's arms to her breast and gaping at the ref in disbelief, practically begging him to get involved and take control. Poor SOB doesn't seem like he wants to get anywhere near them. Finally, he reluctantly pushes them apart from a clinch. Matthysse ducks and weaves her way in and lands a chopping rabbit punch right hand, then a couple of short range smacks on the gob as Mrdjenovich leans in on her. The ref warns Matthysse for something, probably the rabbit punch.

Round 5

Mrdjenovich is losing all of her advantages in height and brawn on the inside, as Matthysse continues to make it a dirty spectacle. Grabbing, butting, stiff-arming - getting away with murder in there. Mrdjenovich is livid but has ceased distracting herself with pleas for help from the ref to no avail, setting about her work. Mrdjenovich tries climbing up Matthysse's rib cage with some hooks but can only get in one clean before Matthysse has smothered her and started in with neck-chops.

Lucas' sister is visibly grinning in there - she is perfectly at ease with this kind of slop-fest and clearly knows she has found a way to get under her rival's skin and plans to run with it for as long as she can. :yep

 

Round 6

Mrdjenovich reaches in with a jab. Matthysse ducks it and clings to Mrdjenovich's front, wrapping both arms tightly around her exposed midsection. Warning from the ref to Mrdjenovich for holding and hitting, now. She looks a bit nonplussed at being warned for anything, but cowed as well, complying and getting back to business without a word. More clinching and elbow-dropping - by Mrdjenovich, on the spine of Matthysse. Ref chastises her again. Uppercut by Matthysse countering a long errant Mrdjenovich jab.
