All of the talk re Archer lately made me come up with this...Could Archer hang in with the furious Lausse to get to the later rounds? It stands to reason that Lausse would be attacking and pushing a harder fight than any other opponent Archer has faced...Joey did face the fearsome Dick Tiger, but Tiger has a much more measured approach compared to Lausse. It looks like Joey is a very technically sound stand up boxer with an excellent left jab, and a solid chin from reports I've read...If it goes past seven, does Archer have the advantage? Let's say 12 rounds. A true boxer versus puncher match up...two great contenders. :think Opinions please.
I saw them both and I think Archer was really underrated. He not only beat Tiger, but Carter also. He definitely has the chin and I think would outpoint Lausse.
I remember seeing Joey Archer on the old "Fight of the Week" telecasts back in the 60's. He was a good one. I too would pick him to outpoint Lausse. I saw Archer narrowly lose to Griffith twice for the title in fights that could have gone easily the other way around in his favor. It's a shame he didn't ever get to win a title as he would have made a fine Middleweight Champion.
I like Joey by decision here. He had the legs to say out of harm`s way and that fine jab of his to keep Eduardo off balance most of the night. And most important of all he had the chin to withstand Lausse`s power if he got tagged.
