Because he couldn't get fit not because he's LHW stop with nonsense please.
So did Satterfield and he did it easier than Liston while being smaller man and lhw.
If you want to make you Liston paroles angry just mention Satterfield beating Williams and there will be 10 000 Liston fanboys over trying to argue with me.

    Again lie.

In May of 1961, he was sent "behind the walls," and imprisoned in Old Max in Canon City. It would be in this place of desperation and violent offenders that Ron would take up his dream. Along with Ron’s dream was also a nightmare. While in prison he nearly met an early demise when another inmate stabbed him in the abdomen. One of the prison doctors had signed his death certificate. "My heart was drowning in my own blood," Ron says. "I died twice on the operating table, but God had other plans, and his plan is still working." One prison doctor wouldn’t give up in trying to save Ron’s life.

After seven hours on the operating table and 36 blood transfusions, Ron was

sent to the prison infirmary. After that he was put into solitary confinement.

LHW starts at 175 so he wasn't a LHW.

167 was MW by standards back in the day because SMW didn't existed.

Ron Lyle had as bad injury as Cleveland Williams while he didn't even hit his prime, yet there are not excuses for him but just for Williams because, Liston fans.

They wanna show how only Liston could beat him in his prime, like Cleveland was some monster but not limited fighter with bad chin and no defense...this forum is more and more pathetic.

There's absolutely no comparison between the injuries suffered by Ron Lyle and Cleveland Williams.

Lyle had one operation, spent two weeks in hospital, and was then well enough to be thrown into solitary where he famously passed the time working out. There's no evidence that he suffered any lasting effects.

Williams had multiple operations, suffered nerve damage, lost a kidney and a chunk of his intestines, spent five months in hospital, emerged an emaciated shadow of his old self, went back in for another operation, and was finally able to return to training more than a year after his injury.

Pre- SMW division, LHW didn’t start at 175.

LHW started at > 160 and STILL finishes at 175.

That’s why 175 is described as being the LHW “limit”.

Lyle died because wounds from being stabbed in his later years, he was youngster who still didn't hit his prime unlike Williams.

Show me any 167 pounds LHW or you can't....Canelo who had that weight tried fighting real 175 pounder Bivol and lost.

Only fool here is you I guess, LaMotta was a MW and not a big one just wasn't able to cut unlike Duran.
Only fool can call LaMotta LhW.

nobody says only Liston could beat Williams in his prime. What they say is no one actually did besides Liston, and a controversial loss to Terrell. Williams was 20 years old when he fought Satterfield he was an embryo.

where is the proof Williams had a bad chin?

Williams was a threat in his prime to beat Floyd Patterson. 6’3 215lb strong moved quickly like a cat, fast hands, had a devastating left hook often tripling them in combinations. You confident Patterson or Johannson beats this guy?

Nope, he had 34 fights that's not inexperienced man and he was fighting a LHw for christ sake.
He was knocked every time he fought someone good: Foster,Ali,Liston,Satterfield...

Patterson would outbox this bum who even lost against Terrel and Chuvalo.

Yes he was, he was already weighing w/in the LHW range as a physically immature 17-year-old.

Greb & Walker weighed well w/in the WW limit when they were in their late teens.
