It seems that a few wanna be bigots love throwing out the "black hope" thing when it's a few of you uneducated white bigots who are hoping and praying that the "white hope" GG is no dope.

The smart money would be this fight not going the distance then!
    GGG under 6
And a small backup of Stevens KO anytime
Punchers chance....has GGG chin been tested ?

Don't listen to fools like that.

You made a genuine request for information and most of the posters on here should be able to respect that.

Curtis Stevens was a Golden Gloves winner as an amateur (where for a time I believe he even fought at HW (the equivalent of Cruiser) - yes, a 5'6" CW!).

Anyways he was a highly touted pro prospect, fighting first at LHW then SMW, and achieved considerable early succes before getting KOd by Primera - though winning a rematch. He was knocking guys out left and right, though less so as he stepped up his level of competition. His first big test was Andre Dirrell, who basically shut him out by keeping distance (aka 'running') and boxing him to a virtual shut-out.

Curtis was relatively inactive over the next coupla of years before losing unexpectedly and quite badly to Jesse Brinkley, after which he seemed to retire.

However returning to the ring after a 2 year break, he seems to have got back to winning ways, and also seems to have found himself better suited to MW. 3 KO1s have regained him his reputation as a fearsome puncher (the danger weapon being the L.Hook) with good flurries and speed, best on the counterpunch or in exchanges.

The warning sign was his April fight with Derrick Findley, who seemed untroubled by his power, and stood and traded for most of the fight with Stevens forced to rely on his boxing ability to grind out the points win.

The consensus is that Stevens has little chance as GGG is both a heavy hitter himself and has far greater boxing ability, but that Curtis' KO power at least gives him a potential equaliser.

You should be able to 'Tube a number of Stevens old fights, but most of the recent ones just tell you he can punch (KO1s are not very informative) though the Findley fight is worth a look.

I'd say that'd be about right. I'd guess GGG TKO5.

WRT Golovkin's chin; by reputation he's never been down as an amateur (350 fights) or Pro (27). Difficult to say whether that's due to a granite chin or b'cos he's deceptively slippery (Macklin described him as being really hard to hit clean).

Either way, he is a lot more cautious and skilled than his reputation as a puncher might suggest.
