Educate me on Ray Robinson

    No need to apologize, but the reason we have pound for pound is because of SRR. The writers at that time wanted to showcase Ray in a way that would get people really talking.

    No coverage is available of his prime at Welter, but what we see in his middleweight days is sublime.

    I think SRR is the most complete fighter I have ever seen. In terms of skill, repertoire, chin adaptability. The very best to date P4P.

    To the TS, go to YouTube and watch some fights, you will find out how good he was.

    If you are new to boxing just remember the sport was different back then with gloves numbers of rounds etc, also a lot of the old film footage can make the action look a bit more ploddiing than it was or is very poor quality. If you start with SRR and move forward in time you will cover what most people would think as the modern era of boxing and you see how it all evolved. It should be noted that SRR was the prototype for Ali to follow, so without SRR we would not have got Ali.
