Don’t worry, any time now the usual suspects will rock up and repeatedly tell the world how the contract exists and it’s Eddie talking bollocks.

Wow Espinosa getting wrecked there, picking a fight on social media with the most savvy social media self promoter in boxing is not a good idea.

I love how he says he didn't send a contract but Wilder did. WTF is Wilder doing sending a contract, he has how many people representing him, Finkel, Deas, Haymon, DiBella, Espinosa etc but it's Wilder himself who's left to send deals to other boxers? Whatever Wilder is paying these guys it's far too much.

I just don’t know why you’d get into sucha detailed argument about a contract that you didn’t send.

I asked this question a million times to the wilder fanboys.

When has it been a thing that fighters send contracts?

They would make you believe Canelo was sending GGG offers using spellcheck everytime to make sure the grammar and spelling was correct.

It's laughable that so many people seem to take an offer made from one fighter to another was legit.

Not really interested in twitter spats but the situation is bad from a Showtime perspective.

They made a smart move to put Wilder & Fury together in the expectation that the winner would have strong negotiating leverage with Joshua.

That winner was expected to be Wilder but Showtime had prudently covered the possibility of a Fury win by ensuring that there was a rematch clause in the contract if Fury won. They, of course, would have broadcast the rematch.

Unfortunately for Showtime, no-one covered off the possibility of a draw & Fury has bolted through the open door to ESPN.

Showtime now doesn't have Joshua or Fury at liberty to fight on their network.

They still have Wilder but his stock isn't as high as that of the other two despite being American. If he's to increase his stock & become more valuable to Showtime, he's going to have to do it fighting on another network. Both DAZN & ESPN will likely want options for a rematch on their networks if Wilder happened to beat either of their guys (Joshua & Fury respectively).

So what was a very smart strategic move by Showtime to put Wilder & Fury together has unraveled as a consequence of an unexpected result - the draw between Fury & Wilder. Showtime mitigated risk by covering off the possibility of a Fury win but not the draw.

It's a cut-throat industry & heads might roll as a consequence. The outcome might also precipitate Showtime's exit from the sport.

Given the sums involved and that there is precedent for this before (the Lewis / Holyfield draw I think freed Lewis from Don King's clutches?) I am amazed that there's not a standard boilerplate draw clause in every single deal they offer. It's the sort of oversight that looks very bad when a massive fight that your network has essentially built is slipping out of your grasp. Espinoza must feel absolutely sick.

    Still, this

has always been my take. I think the lesson from Mayweather / Pacquiao was that protracted acrimonious negotiations are an ingredient in a super fight. In the meantime however Eddie Hearn is good value for his capacity to get up peoples noses and look like he's enjoying himself in the process.
