I think Rosario stops him. Marquez's lightweight career included getting dropped by Katsidis, and given a war by Juan Diaz. I think Rosario's power would KEEP him hurt.
I'll go with JMM, stoppage late. Good fight and it would be fun to watch. I think Marquez weathers a storm or two and comes back the second half of the fight. Then after like the 7th, he uses his tools in there and changes up and adapts. It's Edwin that doesn't weather the storms and gets ambushed. And I sure never liked that elbow out hand placement of Rosario against certain opponents. This would be another.
JMM has always been susceptible to being knocked down....it's happened to him a lot. I think this vulnerability would prove to be a disaster vs a brutal, one punch killer like prime Rosario. It took a better chin than JMM has to withstand and either smother Edwin, like Chavez and Ramirez (and he even got decked) did, or to outspeed and outbox him, no matter how precariously Camacho did it,...but Hector had a much better chin and mobility than Marquez.
This is a great matchup. Edwin was stong in his prime. I think Marquez would win a close decision. His conditioning was a little better, I think.
This is a fight I would have wanted to see. Rosario hit like a truck and would have been able to drop JMM once or twice. The question would be how JMM copes with a puncher like Rosario, who was also a good counter puncher himself with nice footwork. I think JMM would be able to weather the storm and his recovery, tenacity, and ring smarts gets him through to win by close decision. Great match up.
I like Rosario in this one. I think he would build an early lead and perhaps drop JMM along the way and perhaps more than once. I do think JMM was smart and adaptable enough to not only survive but to thrive but Rosario still takes a 7-5 decision made wider by a KD. Over 15, not sure?
