Recently I saw a pretty much boxing coverage about this guy. And photo's as well. His record is perfect on paper. So I decided to check his fights out in you tube, not the best quality and way to analyze a fight, but still. I was surprised when I actually saw him fighting. He puches wide, leaves himself very open, doesn't seem to have much athletic ability either. The point is he is suspended in the US, he is promoted by GBP but fights all around the world against B- and C(!) level fighters. What are your guys' opinion on this guy.
Likewise - read the article on the front the other day, so spent an hour or so watching his YouTube clips. Gets picked off way, way, way too much on the way in.
Still a mad serious puncher.. yet to be disproven.. Fellers like this often end up becoming very clever technicians on setting up thier attacks just through sheer determination.. In time you just never know.. If you ever saw the first 6 of Nigel Benns fights, he jusy ran towards his opponents hell bent on removing them from their senses.. After his first loss he then had a few bouts in the states against Sanderline williams and Doug Dewitt.. He looked very confident with the jab and setting up the hook and serious combinations.. He learned to box just through experience.. In fact he became a quite confident boxer later in his career.. Edwin is very effective non the less..
He's promoted by Japanese-based TEIKEN promotion...deal with GBP fell trough short after his US suspension... He regressed after losing his oppertunity to fight in the US - doesn't train properly, confide too much on his KO power - abandon his technical skills, tough regressed technically...needs a commanding trainer who he would listen to...
Yes effective it is. Untill now. I am curious what will happen later. I think GBP pays journalists to write articles about Edwin because they are making him out for a mike tyson/superman which he isn't (yet).
Really? Ow well if you are sure about that then I am all wrong. Sorry my bad. There is an article on him on yah** sports. Seems like valero was still with GBP when the author wrote that.
But this fighter has power no doubt, he could go somewhere having that quality. Still it's time for Valero to fight top level opponents so he could prove himself worthy, also to erase all doubts he's all along been beating cab drivers.
It could be that they have options on him if he fights in the US but as it doesn't happen anyway,I wouldn't count him as a GBP boxer...
He's raw, but don't discount his power. He has a straight left that rivals Pac's by the looks of it.. he just needs to learn what to do when a guy can take his shot and fire back. It took Pac awhile to figure that out as well.
