Let's say that the Valero tragedy never occurred and that Williams was never injured.

If you could pick one of these guys to still be active who would you choose? (let's say the other retired early or whatever)

Pretty much, who would you bring back?

Valero was a horrible human being.......BUT if we are talking about talent then I would go Edwin, as we saw what Paul had, and I think we saw him peak as well.
Personality wise, Paul is an incredibly nice dude and I wish he was still walking.

Williams easily. Williams tragedy was just his own stupidity. Valero is a criminal/murderer and I hope hes burning in hell if there is one.

Personally, PW. He was a freak of nature. How he made 147 at 6'2" was unreal. Remember when he was actually campaigning from 147 to 160 and just taking fights that were available in one of those weights? He might not have been exciting as Valero but he was a better person.

Depends how you look at it...In terms of boxing entertainment, we have already seen P-dub at his best and was on the decline..

Valero is a mystery, It would be way more interesting to see he had to offer, there would be so many great fights you can put him in...

In terms of which man deserves it more than is Williams easily, Paul is one of the most respectful and nicest guys around, not only to mention a very positive person. Valero was insane and dangerous.

i have to be a humanist on this issue and pick p.Will, even though he was on the decline before his accident while valero was starting to gain a lot of momentum. knowing what i know about valero really biases my choice, knowing he has that capacity for cruelty and murder, i'd rather he stay dead.

Although his fight with Canelo would have been interesting, Paul would have gotten decapitated by GGG, and might have even found himself moving up to 168 and getting decapitated by those guys. Cotto wouldn't have fought him. Trout would have been a decent enough fight... He would have likely gotten outboxed by Molina? is that is name?

We saw where Paul was going to end up...

Valero on the other hand... Even though he definitely had his limitations, there were all kinds of gym rumors about him beating a bunch of guys in a more skillful way than you would think. And win lose or draw, he has way more possible opponents to face...

Valero vs Lucas, Provo, and Maidana would all have been insane. Valero vs Broner for lightweight supremacy... Valero vs Gamboa, Mikey Garcia, Terrence Crawford... Valero vs Bradley, Alexander, Khan, Garcia... It's ridiculous

Sure he might have gone on to waste his undefeated record fighting either Pac or less likely Mayweather... But still, it would have been interesting to see where he'd **** out

As a human being, Williams (obviously...he and Valero are opposite ends of the spectrum)

    As a boxer...Williams, again.

Valero is ridiculously overrated and mythicized and would have lost stepping up to guys like Soto and Guzman, let alone Pacquiao.

Williams, people forget, was in training for a fight with Canelo as of the accident. He was still relevant, and not everybody was picking him to lose to Alvarez...

Paul Williams was infinitely better, more exciting, and more relevant.

The comparison between them just seems wrong; Williams is a nice man whereas Valero is among the single biggest scumbags in the history of boxing.
